Nah, this will transform their Argos 20" wheeled folders into truly epic fun rides. Gear sensor, programming cable, 52T>11T recommended.

(BB and continuous discharge current capability of current battery depending. It did everything well with just 15A.)

It already is an epic fun ride. I have just been riding mine another 15 miles around Hadrian's Wall. I'm grinning all the way. One of my neighbour's - a lady of a certain age has begged a 'try' from me and thinks it is fabulous. You just have to adopt the philosophy of. 'It is what it is.' It runs along nicely at about 11 miles an hour in its mid setting, and will happily run with little spinning of the legs at about 15 miles an hour, in its high one.

I just let it do its thing and enjoy the view. I don't disagree with anything Saneagle said, and having mine a week earlier than his delivery, I had already made most of the points about the gearing and the weight of it, and that it was no hill climber. Of course, I am smaller than he is and was less impacted by the controller's failure to 'Unleash the amps'. Nevertheless, unleashing the amps would not help its range, which I reckon is about 22 or 23 miles with a bit of climbing, maybe 25, 26 miles on the flat.

I have now got the battery properly balanced so that it charges to 42 volts which it would not do out of its crate. It stopped at about 48.5 volts the first time and has had to be left on the green light for a few hours to get above 49.5v. This morning I saw 42 volts so I am certain all cells are now balanced. Maybe that will add a little bit to the range in future.... Who knows.

By the way - you can't easily add a mid drive motor. There is a guard built into the frame to stop the PAS sensor and the crank being struck by rough ground, not that anyone would really think of doing that kind of conversion.

But I like it........ Why would I do this mad thing you are suggesting?

Maybe you are joking again. :)

By the way - instead of making your ultrasonic shrieking dog deterrent, why not buy one of those Stuka dive bomber sirens on the second hand war bird market. You can even get them for model aircraft.....

The only thing I'd change about my bike is the frame material. One of these days the unobtanium frame I'm looking for will turn up.

Too late - already made and ready for testing, and improvement if necessary. Besides, scale model aviation is one of @saneagle's other hobbies.

Only a relative bargain, no price match for a cheap Chinese camera, but GoPro Hero Black 10 down to £229 from £299 at GoPro website.

I mean, you can't even get an Argos bike for that...

That's a good price for the Black 10. A second hand GoPro Hero 7 Black like mine is £135 + £2.50 delivery, can be cheaper if they appear on London Camera Exchange.

If anyone does buy from Cex, buy online so you're protected by distance selling laws. Factor in the price of a helmet mounting cage, in case that's missing. Also factor in brand new genuine batteries (ebay), because the ones secondhand GoPros are supplied with are dead or nearly dead.

For those wanting the power of hydraulic brakes but have bikes with manual disc brakes with the cable brake levers integrated with gear lever, this could be a cheap solution at £17 delivered

Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out!

They're sort of hibrid hydraulic cable operated brakes. I haven'ttried them, but I can forsee some problems. I think the rule still applies: Never upgrade or change cable disc brake calipers for other cable ones. It's not worth it, when you can get hydraulic brakes often cheaper, and a lot better.

Anyway, for the benefit of all, I've ordered some to test.

I was speaking generally, not specifically about those ones. I edited the post to say that I ordered some for testing.

No experience with hybrid ones but these twin pull mech zittos are seriously good value. I fitted to wife’s ebike. Not self adjusting, of course, but feel is like twin piston hydros. Cheap, look trick (imho, lovely cnc cut), easy free brake cut out switch (with kit levers/perches), I recommend for those on budget that don’t mind adjusting cables . Not for downhill racers, obviously but way better than single piston jobbies.

Is self-adjusting of that type available?

X tech hybrid version posted above should self adjust, only cable needs setting and lubing, looks like a better (although dearer) version of the zoom mech twin pull I have and posted. I’d try it, no question,
Good spotting egroover !
