Its such a joy on this forum to have soooo many people so keen to help.......thankyou so much for that 'brilliant' idea Alan.

However, as I know Mike Killay and Willin have been sensor hunting for longer than me I will do the decent thing and allow them first refusal ( Phewww....good job I am such a nice person ) :D

Lynda :)

I don't think that you can weld a magnet.I think they lose their magnetism!
I suppose that if you put two on the wheel it will restrict to 7 and a half MPH.
A Tonaro rally sounds great! count me in.

Thinking about it.......it would be fun wouldnt it, difficult though as I think we are all VERY well spread out.

But a campsite behind a pub on a cycle route with a steep hill or two......maybe with Powerpedals attending to show off their latest models and Cyclecharge there ( haha...me then ) to rally the troops to go out and recruit chargepoints and maybe someone knowledgeable to show us how to customise our bikes in different ways, an accessories stand.....beer/music fest at night......if anyone fancies organising it count me in too :D

Regarding Lynne's post above about a Tonaro (or any interested riders of any ebike) meet there is a campsite near Hamsterley Colliery that is right on the C2C (Derwent Walk) and you can ride your bike (or just walk) along the cycle path to the Derwent Walk Inn a mile away.

Reviews of Byreside Caravan Site , Consett, Co Durham Campsite

And of course steep hills are our forte! (Ebchester Bank is a killer) - and Chopwell Woods on the other side of the valley is a great biking venue. So if anyone is interested in an informal weekend meet without commercial suppliers there and would just like do some local rides I would be pleased to meet them.

Update - I just got a message from the seller to apologise that the Bighits are sold out and an offer of an Enduro or a refund... I chose the refund as the Enduro as good as I'm sure it is, it is not what I am looking for. So I guess I'll stay on pedal power alone for now.

What a shame. I said you'd have to be quick. I wonder how many people bought them who read this forum. Maybe the seller will get some more. I was going to get one myself, but I've run out of space. I'm just building a Speciallised Rockhopper Pro with Oxygen Kit, which brings me to seven electric bikes. I'll have to sell one soon, but I like them all. I've still got four motorbikes as well.

Imagine putting some one like Neptune at the bottom of Ebchester bank who is from the 'Flat Lands', after hes turned white, swore or wet him self, then let them know after they go around the bend they have another 3 miles to the top.

Good points is 2 pubs on way up ;)

Well I have thought about doing Ebchester Bank from the river Derwent all the way up to the "Hat and Feather" but have baulked at the prospect (I have done it from the"Derwent Walk Inn" where the C2C crosses but as that is already at least halfway up it doesn't really count as it isn't so steep). Many years ago I came across a car stuck in the escape lane . . driven in there by a nun!

Anyway there are three pubs - The Knack (can't remember it's proper name*) in Ebchester, the Derwent Inn halfway up and the Hat and Feather near the top. There used to be the Raven as well but that's gone now - completely levelled.

*Just remembered the Knack is actually "The Chelmsford"

I like the look of the Oxygen kit... I'd consider adding one to my old Saracen MTB, will you be posting the build with images d8veh?

I'll show the finished bike. I've done all the kit installation already, which was very straight forward. The only problem was that the motor just touched my fork leg, so I had to make a shim. I just discovered two broken spokes in the back wheel, which'll slow down the build, and I've got to find some Deore XT front and rear mechs plus shifters from somewhere.

I got Deore XT with SIS (shifters integrated with brake levers) on the Saracen. I wouldn't want to re-engineer the whole brake lever/shifter system just to fit cut-off levers. Am I correct in assuming there a solution available for the motor cut-off with the OxyDrive set up?

The Oxydrive kit uses the "hidden wire" brake switches, which fit on the ends of the brake cable outers wherever you find most convenient, so that you can keep your nice brakes and still the switches.

I am sure you will have great fun riding it. Just a note of caution though, the magnet on the rear wheel can easily come adrift causing the bike to go faster. Once lost the magnet is very difficult to replace - only today I was in CarpetRight and was astonished to discover that they didn't stock replacement magnets either!
