Motor is held in place by the 3 phase wires. Have a look at this video.

With the motor out as at the 6 minute point on video, could I test the motor windings by applying 36v to these leads.
As posted the other day my dilemma now is to replace controller and LCD not being sure the motor is OK
This morning the sale was cancelled with compensation for controller fryup.
Consequent conversations reveal a high voltage was applied when he connected 4 batteries to the motor.
Thanks to all of you for your help and good advice.
So now back to two bikes, One complete and the second with a choice of replacing fried parts or up rating to a new 750 watt kit and selling the other bike!
No, you can't test run the motor without a controller. I have a tester and a spare 48v controller and would be happy to test if you post it to me. You will then know if it's worth buying the replacement parts..
Hmmm... That isn't supposed to happen the LCD should throw up an error message when an over voltage is detected should it not? I thought the Bafang controller was more intelligent than the KT's?
For testing, your motor will be fine run at 48v. People have fitted 48v controllers to 36v BBS01/02's, the motor will spin faster, but you run the risk of excessive heat build up, which they can suffer from at normal voltage, so prob. not worth the risk.
you have under voltage protection but nothing to protect the 63V or 50V 2.2mF capacitor to blow when you send 80V into the controller.

Looks visually OK from what I can see, but it's prob. a good idea to see if it still runs. I'm not 100% sure what could have been damaged by the overvolting, possibly the hall sensors, those little 3 pin components marked H1,2,3, so best to check it all to be sure. I will need the rest of the drive, minus the broken controller to run the motor and I will ensure the PAS in also still OK. Postage wise I've always gone through Parcel2Go or Parcel Monkey for a good price, just avoid Yodel, Hermes under 5kg or Parcel Force over.
