Are sellers taking over this forum?

Is it me, or does there seem to be a huge influx of sellers advertising their wares in nearly every post that I read?

I've only been a member of this forum for a year or so, but it appears that even a seemingly simple posting, can turn into a free for all for sellers to promote their goods.

Has the allowance of trading within posts, given license for sellers to take over the site?

Don't get me wrong, sellers need to make customers aware of their products to survive, but when does it get to the point of too much?

Personally, it's starting to p*** me off, and detracts from my enjoyment of this excellent forum.

I'm only being honest, and it probably doesn't bother most people.

Let the firing commence

I really have to agree...whan I first joined I started a similar thread but oddly most felt differently. I think situation is probably worse now and the constant barrage of the same replies in every new thread is probably killing the forum as enthusiasts activity now seems so low.

Its a real shame as I only use a couple of forums and find myself spending more time looking at German Pedelec site as there is a lot more activity there and useful info (they dont have a Flecc though!!)

its really up to all the lurkers out there to get involved and give this site the boost it needs and a bit more balance.....

I supported "the lurkers" at the Fulham Greyhound in the 80's. I think they are probably all dead now. Or maybe they moved to Germany and formed the "Toten Hosen" ...

I think much of the lack of forum activity is due to people spending more time on their bikes at this time of the year and also being away on holiday at this peak holiday time Eddie

As for a German flecc, what has the world done that it should suffer more than one? :D

That's not so easy though, many questions are very specific so most people can't answer. More general questions are also difficult as most people haven't tried many bikes. Some replies are very disheartening when a seller recommends a product that does not fit the buyers requirements.
"I need a yellow banana, what's the best value yellow banana I can get?"
"Buy my green banana, it's just what you want"

We played with bands with "image" but we didn't have one ourselves. I think thats why we called ourselves "the outboys" .. we had a manager called Kate who was a siouxsie sioux look-alike and was the main reason we got gigs! ... nobody told me about the golden rule of not sleeping with the manager ... she subsequently left and we ended up with no gigs! ...

Seems so Fordulike. Despite someone today comparing us unfavourably with ES, it seems their position on this is little different from ours.

Guess yer not a fan of ES then flecc?
I'm fairly neutral on this, it's format doesn't really suit me, and I find the discussion a bit messy at times.

In the main I view it as more specialised on projects etc, this forum more suited to the mainstream of commercial e-bikes/kits and the newcomers to e-biking. For those reasons I disagree with those who wish us more like ES, I see no point in duplication or unnecessary direct competition.

You may have noticed I rarely get involved in threads on projects, high speed/power bikes etc.

ES a bit messy? I find it a complete mess and difficult to identify anything I am interested in. and also it is American, the only western democracy (ha ha ha) that seems to enjoy killing its poor and deranged citizens.

Furthermore the only country in the world to drop not one but two nuclear bombs on a civilian population.....

Logically though, that's ok.

Since they are conducting a war on terror, their best action to stop the worst source of that would be mass suicide of their whole population.

I like ES, its far more international than Pedelecs. There are some highly intelligent and knowledgeable guys on there, I've learnt a lot from the forum. Sure you have to filter out the chaff and threads go off topic as they do on all forums but if you have any sort of engineering leaning or are simply inquisitive its a real treasure trove of information.

I like the German version of our own Pedelec forum, cant join as I need to automatically translate to read it..... so dont think it will work. So I just i just browse for information

it is very organised with different areas/forums for virtually all makes of e bikes, from the likes of: Flyer/derby cycles/BionX/Bosch etc... plus areas for home builds and kits as well

As I have a Bosch bike I find forum particularly useful as a load of owners and prospective owners on there....

Yes, that's very true, but in my case I just simply don't have enough spare time in my life to get the value from it that I'd like.
