In a word - no! I admit I've only been an e-biker for a couple of weeks but nothing but genuine interest from other cyclists. I think drivers/riders of any type of vehicle just need to be polite and courteous at all times.

I say this as a 4x4 driver and I used to get stick for that. Not so much now as they have become fairly ubiquitous. Water off a duck's whotsit!

Generally just good natured banter from other cyclists and even non cyclists who tell me I'm cheating from their bmw or bar stool !!! Did have one guy at Blair Adam forest who seemed a bit taken aback, But I got the impression he thought I was going to be some psycho speed freak on an overpowered bike. He chilled a bit when he saw what I was about. Also had the Falkirk cycle club steaming past me at Kincardine and the lead guy yelled in my ear as they stormed past me. Testosterone fuelled dick or maybe something else fuelled. Apart from that all good . Regards

Had a couple of blokes tell me I was cheating (this was when I was demo'ing a Haibike) ... I just asked who they thought I was cheating as I didn't know them from Adam and that I wasn't a great believer in 'no pain no gain' ... I'm more of a 'if it's going to hurt then let's not bother' sort of girl :).
Having now got my dream bike I can honestly say that after 10 miles of off road mud, rocks and hills I still get a good workout!

The last time I got a yell of cheating was from two lads of about 10 years old who were waiting at a stop for a bus to take them to the local shops barely a half-mile away!

I wonder what they thought their legs were for?

A few doors away from me is Sigma Sports, a 'must' visit for hardcore road racing cyclits. Originally when I opened there were some that would sneer and shake their heads as they went past from visiting Sigma. Today and 3 years on its very different, most are very interested in ebikes and the technology and of course the cheating discussion is about their own sport involving some using small watt motors to gain an edge. Attitiude has changed, I think most appreciate what an ebike can do for some people and wish to encourage it.

Had a cracking ride this evening at our local centre (Llandegla). Similar to Phil's post, people were interested, no negative comments at all and as someone said 'it beats sitting in the sofa' :)

Conditioning and acceptance takes time. :)

Many of the bikes are much more than just 'electric bikes' now. They're appealing, tastefully good looking and very functional. Technically proficient, both on, and off road. Everybody can appreciate the artistic design, research and improvements that have gone into to making them that way.

Attitudes are changing. :)
