Anyone experience abuse from non ebikers?

I have just started ebiking into work and have noticed some snobbery from the cycling community towards ebike users.

Has anyone experienced verbal abuse while out on your ebike from other cyclists while commuting or on a leisure cycle?

When i started e-biking in 2011 on a kalkhoff pro connect the battery was bright silver on a black bike and very visible in front of the rear tyre on the seat tube so i did get a few bad cheating comments when overtaking mainly from road race club cycling riders.I now ride a cube hybrid where the battery is black on a black bike and more integrated with the bike so now no comments at all.Also the bosch cx motor on the cube can hardly be seen from the rear because it is very narrow and neat.

At the traffic lights yesterday the driver in the next lane wound down his window and said nice bike but I bet you would struggle in the Tour de Yorkshire! I pointed at the battery and he then said Ah but that's cheating..
It was said and received in a fun way, not nasty or abusive ..

In reality they think you are envious of them!! After all why would anyone want to make it easy and miss out on all the PAINNNNNN

I get the odd whinge and mucky look but I just ignore them...I was in a cycle café nearby about two weeks ago and an older gent started to have a go calling me a cheat and really started laying into me verbally so after listening to his whinging voice for about 20mons I asked him if he had ever had a go on a pedelec...his reponse was that he had read about them and didn't think it was proper cycling. I replied by saying I didn't think it was right for old blokes to ride their bikes wearing sandals and socks and cycle hats on back to front !!! shut him up !!!!
