Well 67.5 but getting younger each day with these E-bikes.

Amazing how consistent this poll has been over the years, an earlier poll showed the same. No matter how much it grows, 80% of the membership is in the second half of life at over 40 years. Those between 30 and 40 make up the bulk of the rest so there's still little evidence of any e-bike appeal for the young.

Given that this poll started almost four years ago so those entered are up to four years older now, the membership profile could be much older yet!

Probably not, since we are missing some essential data, particularly the death rate.

However the exercise would probably not be worthwhile since less than 4.5% of the members have participated in the poll. Since participation in such polls could well have an age related factor, any inaccuracy could be very much greater than implied by the small percentage of participants.

the forum seems to trend towards more motor power and derestriction, surely a sign that the riders are getting younger?

Possibly Trex, but of course those speed/power participants are a very small proportion of the membership and the previous membership is ageing all the time.

And many of the power and speed lovers are far from young, for example d8veh is fairly close to retirement age and derestriction is asked for by all ages as they get annoyed at the effect of sudden cut-offs.

Perhaps we should ask those who have died to bring the figures up to date........ I am just over 60. A person at work asked me yesterday if I noticed any difference having an electric bike. I can honestly say it has. It is a real pleasure to go anywhere now, knowing that I will not be knackered when I return.

Well said Chainring , I am about the same age as you , I drive now only 7000 miles ( SDP ) a year and trike about 3000 miles a year , The e-trike has cut down my expenses but still allows me to get around and still feel good when I get off ,
Its definitely a pleasure to ride anywhere and not a task ..
