48v battery, which to buy?

I'm currently looking for a 48v battery to go with a ToSeven 500w mid drive kit.

First & foremost I'm looking for a high quality, well made battery. I'd love an em3ev battery from Eclipse Bikes but they've been out of stock for ages. Ebikebatteries(.co.uk) have sadly had to stop trading.

I'm currently looking at GreenCell or Dillinger batteries, the latter being much more expensive but may be worth it?

- The GreenCell battery claims to be assembled in Poland & has a 30a BMS. 696Wh is £270. No mention of which cells are used.
- The Dillinger uses Panasonic/Sanyo cells in their 672Wh NT battery which has a is priced at £479+mount & charger.

Is the latter really worth over £200 more? Any advice or other recommendations appreciated.

I think it is safe to assume Greencell is using no name Chinese cells (and batteries they sell are very expensive).

I bought battery from PSW and I am happy with it.
You can have 48V 15Ah Samsung battery delivered for £175

Another option is Greenlance

PS Where did you buy Toseven motor?

I bought the motor from their own AliExpress store: 'ToSeven Motors Store'

Thanks, I've heard of PSW power batteries but wasn't sure of the quality

They sell batteries with no name and branded cells. It is up to you to choose a good battery.

PS Why did you choose Toseven motor from China? It is illegal and practically without warranty.

Price, torque sensing, allegedly better than the Tongsheng equivalent. I understand the potential warranty issues. The vast majority of DIY kits are illegal & I understand the risks. What kit would you recommend that is legal?

I have quite a few. Depends for what purpose.
TSDZ8 is the one I like most. It is legal and probably more powerful than Toseven.

Why do you like Eclipse battery so much? Is it because it has Panasonic grade A cells? You can buy something like that from Woosh.

Edit: OK... I see why you like Eclipse battery. Looks very nice, but price is really high and OOS as you said.
Out of batteries you shortlisted, Eclipse is by far the best. Dillinger and Greencell are in completely different league. Having that said I would still buy battery from PSW.

I would speak to @Woosh about your requirements - they sell batteries and chargers - they are more expensive but they use Panasonic and Samsung grade A cells and I think they have them certified and have insurance - David is risk averse and makes sure everything is safely done

Thank you! Their 720Wh downtube battery for £340 all-in looks promising. I'll be messaging them

Yes - do talk to them - I think they sometimes have other capacities as sell as those on the web site - I recall a 20Ah 48V one - but I might be mistaken

My PSW 48v LG[oem Chinese area sale only from what I could remember] is dying. ~10ah if memory serves. Even after a good charge it LVC's in head wind and up hill. purchased just before Brexit happened.

Dillinger
Greencell no name cell I got I saw that too, Dillenger, I have 2x 36v well older than the PSW circa 2016 aging but still good for 15 miles no LVC cuts although I haven't really fully tested them as of late. Dillenger from my experience are good & still about show promise, I fear they are pricey due to the addition of replacement insurance in the initial consumer price.

I wanted a new 48v with a good AH (14+) £300-£400 seems fair. As of late every time I try to purchase something, a second hand laptop, a shower and a used GPU, stuff seems to be out of whack, either the plumber doesn't turn up, the GPU is bent or the laptop has more balljuice on the screen than one could possible stomach cleaning[I fear not returned it] ... I am apprehensive about purchasing a battery.

Greenlance are cheap, fast and helpful. What more could you ask for? Yose are pretty good too. Greenlance have a discount code BIRTHDAY10 to get an additional 10% off and if you sign up for an account, you get 5% off.

I find this interesting because I bought my LG MH1 celled (performed well, so I don't think the cells are rewrapped fakes) 19.2Ah at around the same time. I'm curious about how many miles your battery has powered, and what LG cells it has. I bought the largest capacity battery available with my kit, because I reckoned I'd still have more capacity than I needed even after an 80% drop, a couple of years on. It seems fine, but I really should have ordered a 20A battery tester last week during the AliExpress sale.

Correction BMSbattery for my 48v, pswpower for the MXUS

David is risk averse
I forgot about woosh!

Hope you are well! I never opened it to see but that cell sounds about it. It reads 54.2V charged but sags to 44v in 10 miles on PAS4 I don't even use PAS5 & had to walk a hill last week. Over all millage circa 6000 easy maybe more, I tend not to go more than 10 miles per day any more with one or two rides at 20 miles per year. The 36v don't sag afaik, I will fully charge one and test just to rule out a dying controller which is still the 14a 36/48 black sine from aliexpress, it must be 5 year old and the motor is still the MXUS 250w, 2 year may 2022. BMSbattery have removed my account so I can't be of more help.

Greenlance are cheap, Yose.
I was thinking with my excess economic clout or misguided wealth effect, I would *try* and support British/UK companies. Tbf I haven't even looked, I came here for inspiration & wisdom from the great Sages!

Outrageous! Unacceptable and must not be tolerated!

Noticed used prices for RTX 1080 and Ti start at £135 now. I don't need one but am tempted. Still very powerful cards compared to some of the new ones. The've probably all been cooked with overclocking, with noisy fans, and baked thermal paste which need replacing. Oodles of totally dead 1080s on ebay, who the heck would buy those?

Too right.

My rx5600xt died so I plumbed for a RX6800 [Sapphire nitro+OC] used, its a beast, a new psu - Coolermaster 750w with fancy wattage screen, which meant a new case the XT view from phanteks then the missis wanted a new gpu so I treated her to a 4060TI 8GB which I managed new for £329 from Overclockers, plays surprisingly nice with a gen 3 I5-9600 then she adopted my 4000D case which was a pain to transplant but alas I didn't bust nowt.

Revive the old thread friend, as not to highjack this one; I have a few spare parts I want rid, a hotbox case and a CV550 corsair low tier C dust sucker if I can post em, if not no worries.
