Great stuff, the Dutch have being doing this for years, these huge 3D printers are very cool, I wouldn't like to have to clear out a clog though...

It looks like they forgot to clean the nozzle before they started. I've got a feeling that it can't be melted down and recycled - a bit embarrassing for them!

"Imagine a portable 3D printer you could hold in the palm of your hand. The tiny device could enable a user to rapidly create customized, low-cost objects on the go, like a fastener to repair a wobbly bicycle wheel"

Additive manufacturing of an ultrastrong, deformable Al alloy with nanoscale intermetallics

"Most existing studies have been conducted mainly for near-eutectic Al-Si and Al-Si-Mg alloys3. These alloys exhibit medium strength but great hot-tearing resistance, making them good candidates for 3D printing. In contrast, high-strength Al alloys, such as AA 6061 and AA 7075, are inherently susceptible to hot cracking during additive manufacturing process.

One method to alleviate hot cracking during additive manufacturing of high-strength Al alloys is to introduce fine and hard particles. "

Heads-up for the 3D printers here, Eryone are selling 1KG rolls of PLA for £10 in UK and US with free shipping!

I've used a lot of it over years and never had any issues with it, this is a great deal (I have zero affiliation with them btw etc. etc.)!

When I got to checkout, it said they can't ship to my address, which is my normal shipping address provided by PayPal. If anybody gets success with ordering, please let me know.

Worked fine for me, no issues, maybe try a friends address?

I bought two spools, I was seriously tempted to buy a good few more but I kinda stocked up at Easter.

Absolute steal at £10 a roll incl free delivery!
