Two battery wires will lead to a controller somewhere. Though it also may be internal with the drive motor.

OK, so it looks like you have an intergrated controller built into the base of the battery holder.

Can't really see from those photos, but if you have more than 1 cable coming out of the battery housing, then that's where the controller is.
Sorry edit, just one cable to the display and the throttle.

Yep undo the 3 screws to remove the black cover then take more photos.

If the controller is in the base of the battery rail it is most likely a solid state micro pcb, so won't have any way of de-restriciting there.
