converting a geared hub motor to a mid drive for a home made e bike with a small rear wheel

Thanks for your reply and advice, having researched the gnc gen 1, and your words about my possible previous current/speed setup I dont think its right for me, although it sure looks fun ! Im also concerned about the legality of using on the road and it seems like it might draw unnecessary...

converting a geared hub motor to a mid drive for a home made e bike with a small rear wheel

well, yeah you may be right about the controller setup...i never delved into those settings. i was able to use the pedal assist power settings 1-5. I had thought to buy a similar controller again, if i went down the hub 2 mid drive option. Thanks for the link to your testing of the gnc...

converting a geared hub motor to a mid drive for a home made e bike with a small rear wheel

ha ha, I like the image of a bmx rider in the world championships, but probably not what I'm after... i saw on ebay some 55 teeth chain ring sprockets with freewheels that fit. I thought i could use that as the basis of my homemade freewheel crank . where you thinking the 52 tooth sprocket...

converting a geared hub motor to a mid drive for a home made e bike with a small rear wheel

hi vfr400, unfortunately that hub was stolen with the rest of the bike after a very short trial period, perhaps it could have been set up better? it was quite a heavy ride without the motor 23kgs but no particular friction points. When i used the motor it seemed the peddling added very...

converting a geared hub motor to a mid drive for a home made e bike with a small rear wheel

Thanks Wicky thats a good idea! Im keen to get the angle grinder out and play around with some bits! when I've seen other examples of home made mid drives they often seem to use a 2 or 3 stage reduction process, using a combination of belts, pulleys and chains, looks rather complicated and im...

converting a geared hub motor to a mid drive for a home made e bike with a small rear wheel

Hi there, I'm trying to build a low budget home made cargo e bike from the collection of old bits and pieces I have. Help! Carrera Vengeance e type!!!

I have cut the suntour waterproof connector off and am using connecter blocks and test leads to temporarily connect the wires and easily try the different combinations. The best i got was a momentary movement or a stuck sound. Im glad to hear you think the hall sensors might not be damaged...

Thanks for reply yes i did test the red and black hall wires and i get 4.23v. Then i tested each colour using the positive meter lead to the colour hall wire and the black meter lead to the black hall wire . I advanced the wheel as slowly as i could, it seemed to fall into specific places...

    Help! Carrera Vengeance e type!!!

Hi there so maybe after rechecking the hall sensor wires they all shake about numerically 0.67- 3.74.-4.95 as I turn the wheel backwards slowly does that mean they are bad or good? The multi meter was not showing distinctly 0 or 5 v I don't think I got five volts when touching the positive and...

Thanks for your reply Yes, i got the display mixed up,(eyes boggled after eternity of internet searches) I should have said Display KT-LCD3 , i believe it has a button you can use for walk assist. the KT 15A sounds a better suggetion to me, if it fits in the space. Which looks quite small...
