I think the police and media need to take an electric bike recognition course :)

Come on guys, we all know the tank on the top is for the "liquid electric" ;).

Overtaking on the inside or the outside

If it's only for a two car advantage even with a green cycle box at the front I will wait in line as there's no point forcing your way to the front just for the sake of it (althouth many do!). As for overtaking on the outside, it would be head on into a bus territory on my normal commute...

    New Gtech ebike

Personally I think the more reviews by the end user we can get up on the internet the better (good or bad!). I can see why some will be disappointed as you still have to put some effort in, for me though that is a bonus. It strikes just the right balance with the assist (for me anyway)..

    Kudos Alamo/Stealth v G-tech e-bike.

    Interesting!, how many gears?.

It would have to be front wheel hub drive if you want Gates Belt IGH and hub drive?.

    Kudos Alamo/Stealth v G-tech e-bike.

The Carbon Drive requires a split stay rigid frame. A mid motor, rear geared hub and Carbon Belt would be an ideal bike, but how much £?.

What is a complete chain link?

I would class a 50 plate chain as 100 links, as does DID etc in the motorcycle industry. A link is classed as a "pin" and you never buy odd link chains. The "half link" seems to be more prevalent in old motorcycles and bicycles, you'd never fit a half link to a GSXR etc..

    Strange disc brake phenomenon

Everytime I get a motorcycle in for roadtest I bed in the rear brake again over 2 miles, because they never get used they are next to useless without some heat put into the pad an rotor. Use your brakes more frequently and you shouldn't have any issues wih them.

My Carrera Vengeance Ultimate/ TSDZ2 build (in progress..)

Looks good!, have you put any miles on it yet?. What rear hub have you fitted?.

    Kudos Alamo/Stealth v G-tech e-bike.

They are decent tyres on the Gtech, and depending on how you ride it, the battery can last a wile. But I'm biased as I own one!. Don't miss the chain one bit and it's a shame my other bike has to have on (due to frame design I can't fit a belt).

    inner tubes

We fit slime (or equivalent) quite a lot at work to tubless M/C tyres and it works well.

    inner tubes

I had a Kenda one next to a Tesco special, the Kenda was noticeably thicker. I normally wait till they have a couple of puncture repairs but no harm in fitting new and keeping them as emergency spares.

My Carrera Vengeance Ultimate/ TSDZ2 build (in progress..)

All good!, I've pencilled in next weekend to fit the kit. Would love to do it sooner but other commitments have taken priority. Would prefer the seat tube (looks wise) but I won't commit to final wiring until I've tried both. Even using 25% more battery the 15ah should be more than enough for...

My Carrera Vengeance Ultimate/ TSDZ2 build (in progress..)

Just a quick one, why are most batteries mounted on the front frame tube?, is it weight distribution?. Was thinking of mounting it on the vertical frame tube where the seat slots in..

I did see your post on that, should have had a batch made as I'd by a couple of spare sets ;-).

I have a speedo fitted, mainly due to logging milage vs battery because I knew people were very interested in the results. When I reported first charge use at 53 miles I wish I hadn't bothered but hey ho..

Yeh it's deffinitely more of a town bike, saying that I have ventured further afield on it (not on a field though!). Looking forward to finishing my other build an giving it a good shakedown run but the Gtech will always be the daily commute choice for me.

    Complete Newbie to e-bikes.

You did the right thing there buying the crossfire and not trying to convert your other bike. They seem to be very well regarded on here, hope you enjoy it!.
