Hub motor and V brakes - how long will the rim last?

I do a rear rim in about 8,000 miles of commuting (plenty of stopping), that's in all weathers though.

    Converting to belt drive

I have a Belt drive and a chain drive. Much prefer the Gates Carbon Drive, so smooth and quiet, no maintenance at all, no oil etc. I'm looking for a belt capable frame to convert my Mid Drive over. Cube would be your best bet, Gates have a fitment guide if you google it, it's in PDF format iirc.

GPS Tracker for £2 a month

I bough two Vodafone Curves a while back to clip on our dogs harnesses when they are out (incase they get spooked when off lead). The Curve is excellent, never had any issues with ours. At £2 a month per Curve it's a bargain really.

Has anyone moded there tongsheng tdz2 36v 250w with open source firmware?

I have a 36v TSDZ2 mid drive built into a Nuvinci 360 hubbed bike. The TSDZ2 is a great unit, very nice to ride. It measures and multiplies the torque put into the cranks, very intuitive imho.

Why so few hub geared bikes with belts ? Looking at Kalkhoff

I'd like a belt capable frame with disk brake mounts eventually to transfer all my kit over and convert to Carbon Drive/ Nuvinci Hub and TSDZ2 Mid drive. For me that would be an amazing ebike. I have a spare GTECH but that is on rim brakes (and my wife has her eye on it!).

Why so few hub geared bikes with belts ? Looking at Kalkhoff

I've built a Nuvinci hubbed mid drive bike with a chain but my GTECH has me sold on the Gates Carbon Drive (8,000 mile and 5 winters with no maintenance at all). Geared hub, Carbon Belt and mid drive are the Holy Grail imho.

    My Gtech eBike Sport review!.

Well 5 years on and 8,000 + miles and what can I say?. Apart from brake pads my V1 GTECH Sport has needed nothing really, the battery is about 60% capacity now which to be fair isn't out of the way. It's been though all weathers as it's my daily commuter all year. I was just about to by...

Chainline offset for BBSHD and hub gear - how much is too much?

I might end up doing the same with my Nuvinci build, like the looks of no derailleur but function should always come before form!. What chain do you recomend?, would like something as heavy duty as possible really..

Riding home after a beer anyone?

We had a "few" after work at Christmas and I road home (in hindsight it was a stupid idea..). My max speed was 22 mph before that night, had a look a few days after and it was 32mph.. Never again!, 2 pints tops from now on.

I used a Homeplug (LAN over electric sockets) for running my computer upstairs with router downstairs. Worked a treat and never had any problems with it.

    NuVinci 360 gearing

One of the best things about the belt is not dealing with the oily mess, makes cleaning the bike a lot easier (everyday commuter not weekend special).

    NuVinci 360 gearing

Around the world on 2 belts, 11,000 miles on 1 belt with a Rohloff and no cleaning.. https://www.velorution.com/index.php/journal/an-absolute-belter/ My bike is silent in the wet or dry.. I wonder if all the people slating the belts have ridden a bike (put decent milage on one) or are just...

    NuVinci 360 gearing

Tollerance wise with the belt drive, it's set and forget. I would choose belt and igh over chain and derailleur every time due to maintenance alone..

The riddle of complete bikes cheaper than kits?

Surely paypal or whoever will claw back the money so how do the fakers benifit from it?. Only way would be people paying through none returnable BACS transfer?, who would be stupid enough to do that?.
