    Bosch Cobi or Garmin 830

Me neither. I don't care about my cadence or heart rate. I'm using an iPhone 6s Plus with Maps, Google Maps, Bikemap etc The only issue is battery life while using GPS as it's only 2.5-3 hours which is OK as we never go for rides longer than a couple of hours & I keep a £10 10000mAh USB power...

    Bosch Cobi or Garmin 830

OP. The "single point of failure" problem of mid-motor eBikes especially those with Bosch motors is only much discussed on Pedelec by @Andy-Mat who has a bee in his bonnet about this. There are many happy mid-motor & Bosch owners. I have no dog in this fight as all 4 of our eBikes have hub...

    Chain lube

I can recall immersing the chain of my 125cc D1 BSA Bantam in a tin of hot chain grease that I boiled up on the stove (this wasn't so popular with my mother though:))

    Genuine company from Germany ?

Looks very dodgy indeed as they are also operating out of a UK front https://www.bikester.co.uk/ortler-gotland-trapeze-black-matt-1122818.html & a Swedish front https://www.bikester.se/ortler-gotland-trapeze-M801644.html?vgid=G1122818&eqrecqid=f98e7140-a093-11ea-a7c3-a4bf0128f3e6 & a Dutch...

    Tingling hands

I had the pleasure of seeing him play a couple of gigs in the 1970s. I also had the good fortune to catch the final gig of the farewell tour of The Magic Band playing the music of Captain Beefheart led by John French alias 'Drumbo' in 2017.

    Tingling hands

I was getting quite uncomfortable numbness & tingling in my wrists & fingers while riding my Boardman hybrid flat narrow bars but now get none at all as I have just bought an old Woosh Sundowner which has wider swept back bars & a nifty adjustable stem that allows height & fore/aft adjustment. I...

I carry a couple of Gaadis & a large pair of scissors in my paniers but happily so far have not needed to use them.

Why so few hub geared bikes with belts ? Looking at Kalkhoff

I took the Woosh Sundowner out for a 22 mile ride yesterday & on my return there was one third battery left according to the meter so it looks like the battery isn't in too bad shape. After we stopped halfway I encountered an Error 23 which some quick Googling revealed could be a disconnected...

Why so few hub geared bikes with belts ? Looking at Kalkhoff

A Santana or Big Bear would be £1000-£1100 so even with a re-celled battery I would be saving money plus most importantly at the moment I can’t buy a Santana or Big Bear for immediate delivery. We paid £450 a few months ago for my partner’s Woosh Petite via a customer advert on the Woosh...

Being given the runaround by a bike shop

Personally I would never have ordered & paid for a bike 4 months before the promised delivery. A week or 2 is OK maybe a month at a stretch but 4 months is taking the ****. At most I would have a small refundable deposit if there was no other way of getting the particular model I wanted.

Why so few hub geared bikes with belts ? Looking at Kalkhoff

In the end I thought that £500 was a fair price. It might have only cost £699 new but there aren't any new ebikes to be had for that price nowadays except apparently the Kudos Safari & this is a lighter & arguably better bike. We have also had great experience with service from Woosh. Southend...

Why so few hub geared bikes with belts ? Looking at Kalkhoff

I am now the happy owner of a Woosh Sundowner for £500. It looks brand new without a mark on it with only 98 miles on the clock. It must have been stored in a spare bedroom for the last few years. It doesn't have a belt drive but it's almost exactly what I wanted in a bike. Oddly it's missing...

I had a reply to my email. They still have stock in silver or black but only 43cm frame size which is a bit small for me.

    Bicycle Alarm system?

That looks good. It's USB charging so if the socket in the alarm/light is difficult to access it's going to be better to install it with the USB fly lead permanently connected. Use a cable clip or two to fix it to the frame.

Why so few hub geared bikes with belts ? Looking at Kalkhoff

It's a very innovative rental scheme that they have on the Trégor peninsular north of Lannion on the Côte de Granit Rose (Pink Granite Coast). All the tourist offices have bikes for rent & you can also rent a trailer to carry your kids or your dog. They give you a helmet & gilet jaune & reckon...

Why so few hub geared bikes with belts ? Looking at Kalkhoff

These are the bikes we rented for the very reasonable price of €12/day (€55/week). This is a stock photo so it's not us in the picture:) They are well featured with centre stand, basket & built in lock. Very comfortable to ride & tackled the steep hills on the north Brittany coast easily.

Why so few hub geared bikes with belts ? Looking at Kalkhoff

I wish we had seen that 2 for £995 deal. My partner & I were sold on ebikes after we rented a couple in Brittany last year. Those were Dutch-style step through, hub gears & front wheel hub drives with a cadence sensor. We had our flat handlebar hybrid road bikes converted but we both prefer the...

Why so few hub geared bikes with belts ? Looking at Kalkhoff

Apologies I must have missed it among the sea of bikes with a red SOLD OUT banner splashed across them. I guess the only way to resolve this is to contact them:)

Why so few hub geared bikes with belts ? Looking at Kalkhoff

I'm guessing that is just an orphaned web page they haven't removed. If you look on the home page the Safari isn't listed & most every other model is indicated as sold out. I'm pretty sure if such a well specified bike were available at just £695 it would have been selling like hot cakes at...
