Now that I think about it this wasn't a grease I melted but a wax that was solid at room temperature. It came in a tin which you heated up on the cooker then cooled the chain up in left it for a while then lifted the chain out before the wax cooled down & solidified.
The problem that I have with cadence sensors is the lack of feedback through the pedals so that my pedalling isn't contributing anything. I find the torque sensor on my Wisper 705 feels much more natural just like I have stronger legs. It's particularly noticeable starting from rest as I get an...
Over fifty years ago when was young & foolish enough to ride a motorcycle I would regularly take off the chain & soak it in a thick grease that I boiled up on the stove while my mother was out.
In what way are petrol/diesel cars totally unsuited to maintaining 20mph? My cars all have automatic gearboxes & can easily maintain a constant speed of 20mph or lower even less than walking pace if necessary. If you drive a car with a manual gearbox selecting the correct gear allows you to...
Hydraulic disk brakes were a revelation for me compared to traditional bicycle brakes. They are just so much better they must contribute to safety both on eBikes & regular bicycles.
I think one of the real benefits of a mid-drive e-Bike is that it has a torque sensor rather than the cadence sensor of most hub drive eBikes. This gives a much more natural feel to the eBike just like your legs are more powerful. However it is not necessary to have a mid-drive to have a torque...

Are these GPS trackers accurate enough that they can pinpoint an address? From my experience with a GPS cat collar I seriously doubt it. Locating an item to within 50m in an urban environment is as good as useless.
Happily we are on a fixed tariff with EDF until 31st May 2023 by which time there will hopefully be less volatility in the energy market & prices will be much lower. I always go for the longest fix possible so I can budget. I don't care if it's not the cheapest. Likewise with mortgage. Our...
While I wardriving yesterday I passed cyclist who had a flashing rear light alternating between a red light & a white light. Is this illegal or just stupid?
I think you are obsessing over the charging & discharging of your battery. Forget about having a timer to prevent overcharging & what's the point of a having 100% battery capacity if "I don’t want to discharge the battery below 50% as this will drastically shorten its life". It sounds like you...
Looking at European countries with similar population eg France, Italy, Spain they all have more than double the the number of police officers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_and_dependencies_by_number_of_police_officers
I never cycle at night. It's too bloody dangerous. As a motorist flashing lights draw my attention as they are so bloody irritating but I don't think they are as effective as decent output continuous lights especially for headlights. I'm sure that you can you see badgers in the road better with...
How do those supermarkets with geo-barriers that prevent you taking a trolley out of the car park work? Could this be a solution to prevent riding on pavements.
