500w 700C hub drive front wheel

OK Ian. I am out and about quite a bit over the next few weeks, but seeing as you're local, I'm sure we can arrange a mutually convenient time. Saturday or early Sunday this coming weekend will work. PM me with a few times and I'll see if I'm around. Glad to hear you're both up & running!

500w 700C hub drive front wheel

This would appear to be a direct drive front wheel. I bought it as part of a kit off eBay a couple of years ago. It was far too heavy for the bike I intended to fit it to, so it has sat gathering dust in my garage ever since. The battery was put to good use. I probably have the controller and...

    eMTB or Touring Bike?

I'd disagree and go for the larger size. Reach can be shortened by fitting handlebars like the On-One Marys and a shorter stem. The saddle can be moved forward on its rails so it reduces the reach too. A smaller bike made larger can feel cramped, IME. The only proviso is the standover height. If...

    eMTB or Touring Bike?

The frame geometry of an MTB may not be the most relaxing for longer rides. A 700c-wheeled hybrid bike might be more suited to your needs. There are plenty of tyre choices in the UK for light off-road ventures, such as the Schwalbe Land Cruiser. It's best if you try the two types, if possible...

Trekking/Touring Bike - preferably Bosch powered

The Oxygen battery is a Das-Kit one with the controller built into the frame mount, so using it is not an option, unfortunately.

Trekking/Touring Bike - preferably Bosch powered

There is an Ortler Bozen Performance with a Bosch Perfomance drive for £1679. Seems like a good deal for that drive. Decent spec too. I've not heard of the make before though. Any thoughts? The Haibike Trekking 4.0 with a Yamaha drive is significantly more. The Ortler has a 500w battery, the...

Trekking/Touring Bike - preferably Bosch powered

It will be a dual purpose bike, mainly a commuter, but also a longer-distance touring machine, quite laden with camping stuff. I have an eMTB, so I want something more suited to the task.

Trekking/Touring Bike - preferably Bosch powered

Thanks for the advice, however, I think my raising the Yamaha v Bosch question has distracted from the main question: i.e. which trekking bike. Are Ortler any good? I have found some of their bikes relatively cheaply...

I've not ridden either, just read that the Bosch is more powerful than the Yamaha PW.

Trekking/Touring Bike - preferably Bosch powered

I'm looking to buy a touring/trekking bike this summer. I like the look of the Haibike SDURO Trekking 4.0, but it's a little too pricey & Yamaha powered. I've found some alternatives, but thought I'd throw the question open to the panel for suggestions. Am I right to prefer Bosch over Yamaha...

    Panda Pro/Orbit Orion Conversion

Old Alfine wheel borked - disc fine (it's rivetted on so non-removable!). Replacement wheel's gears good - disc warped (also rivetted). Luckily, I have a 9-speed derailleur set up sitting unused in the garage, so started to fit that today. This is getting complicated!

    Panda Pro/Orbit Orion Conversion

As soon as I have sent my Oxygen rear wheel to Woosh & got it back, the Orbit faces some serious mechanical attention. The Alfine Hub is infuriatingly prone to skipping gears and the front brake needs upgrading to the BB7 I have waiting for the task. Electrically it is superb.

36V 250w 8-Fun Rear Hub - is it user servicable?

I'm going to take up Woosh's kind offer and have it serviced there. Not only do I have no time, but my lack of workshop facilities would hamper any repair I'd undertake. I'll hop on the somewhat hamstrung Orbit in the meantime. Thanks for all the advice.

36V 250w 8-Fun Rear Hub - is it user servicable?

The cassette was replaced a few weeks ago when I had the bike serviced, but the LBS didn't, understandably, want to touch the electric bits.

36V 250w 8-Fun Rear Hub - is it user servicable?

I should add that the noise is a gear whine rather than a bearing one. The bike is silent when coasting. Granted it could be caused by worn bearings... Anyway, the tyre on that wheel has a slow puncture, so I'll take a look once I whip it off.

Oxygen Cross ST Black BNIB £1000

Sorry to hear about your change of circumstances. If I were you, I'd be contacting Oxygen to see if the warranty is transferable, as that would make the bike much more saleable. An idea of price might help as well.

36V 250w 8-Fun Rear Hub - is it user servicable?

Thanks. I'll see how adventurous I feel! I might take Woosh up on the offer if time and timidity get the better of me!
