    Juggling the Stable

I couldn't resist fitting the Badass. Took minutes to fit and it worked straight away. Tomorrow is the acid test. I shall now switch this to the Reviews board.

    Juggling the Stable

Rather like my Oxygen, this bike had been bought by someone who was never really committed to using it. He was a really nice guy, but he was never cut out for commuting. The tyres had virtually no air in them, which made the London trip from Embankment to Marylebone rather 'exciting'. That has...

    Juggling the Stable

OK, just picked the bike up. It’s immaculate. Some fettling will be needed. The brake cables need adjusting; the lever adjusters are fully wound out. The suspension seat post is like a pogo stick and will be ditched. Apart from that and some air in the tyres, it’s good to go. Well, I just rode...

Bosch Powerpack 500 - will it fit a Powerpack 300 mount?

As it says in the title. If I buy a Powerpack 500 will it simply slot into the mount of my Powerpack 300? Is there any other factor to consider? Is it simply plug 'n' pedal?

Panda Pro 700c Front Hub Kit £175

The kit is just over a year old and has done about 500 miles. It is one of these. Disc brake compatible. Fitted to my Orbit, it was my second bike, with the Oxygen doing the bulk of my mileage. It is in very good condition. The Panda kit is almost as supplied, except for the following...

    Locking Security Skewers

That was another reason for choosing the hex key option.

    Locking Security Skewers

A bit fiddly, TBH. On a cold, wet, dark evening I wouldn't want to be fussing around with them if I got a puncture.

    Locking Security Skewers

I had some Pitlock skewers, but ditched them, as I'm not very good at keeping tabs on keys. I replaced them with some that used a hex key instead. I always carry one of those around with me and although not as secure, it was a more secure solution than nothing.

Best derestriction for Bosch Active Line?

I've gone for the Badass... It was delivered today and, blimey, you don't get much for your £115, do you! I get the bike on Monday.

    Juggling the Stable

Thanks for the tips. I'll see how it gets on with v brake and coaster brake combination, it has three brakes in total. I have a disc front fork that I could fit, along with an Avid BB7 and a dynohub wheel. I'll get used to the bike before deciding what to change.

    Juggling the Stable

Although I was happy with my Orbit/Panda conversion and very happy with the Oxygen eMate, I was casually on the lookout for an off-the-shelf commuter. I have found one on eBay & just bought it. It's an Ortler Wien. It's got a 7-speed Nexus hub and was a steal at £800, seeing as it is only 10...

Gauging Interest in a Panda Pro Kit & 17.5AH Battery

...17.5Ah battery in the Tiger Shark case with the Panasonic cells... That's from the quote from BGA.

Gauging Interest in a Panda Pro Kit & 17.5AH Battery

Good point! It's a down tube-mounted battery. I have the keys.

Gauging Interest in a Panda Pro Kit & 17.5AH Battery

This is a possible sale, depending on an impending deal with another bike. My Panda Pro 700c kit was bought about a year ago and fitted to my Orbit bike. As I use my Oxygen as my main bike, the Orbit hasn't been used much; maybe 500 miles. The battery has been kept charged to keep it in good...

Best derestriction for Bosch Active Line?

I've searched for this, but was swamped with results, so apologies of this is a recurring subject... Anyway, what does the panel think is the best option for derestricting a Bosch Active Line-equipped bike? The Badass dongle seems to fit the bill, except for the speed display halving feature...

    Winter...

Regarding lighting; please do your fellow riders a favour and don't get something for road use that is designed for off-road illumination. There is something very annoying about being dazzled by a thoughtless rider who blithely lights up his/her path at the expense of all coming the opposite...
