    Investigating Lithium battery generators

My supplier quoted £1500 per 3.2kwh...if bought with panels. (ie a system). If bought in isolation Vat would be added. (apparently one of Sunak's wiser decisions was stopping Vat on panels. Some installers are at moment interpteting that as panel systems, so it's worth looking around. (and...

DVSA take companies to Court for selling illegal bikes.

Similar story in Derbyshire. Saw an influx of pedelecs starting a few years ago, those riders seem to have adopted such as Stealth, Surons etc or building their own take on pedelecs. (a move towards hub drives, which to compete with crank off road all seem to be at least 1500 w) Last week a lad...

DVSA take companies to Court for selling illegal bikes.

You talk a lot of sense but can't quite see logic in passing pedelecs laws so they can double up as 2 wheel invalidity scooters? As it is should someone totally incapable of riding an ordinary bike be riding a pedelec. You are making the bike take on a roll way out of its design parameters. The...

DVSA take companies to Court for selling illegal bikes.

Agree with much of this but saying a 22% hill would soon burn out a small (250w?) motor is none sense. My Haibike is approaching 6000 hard miles and has climbed hundreds of long climbs steeper than 22%... At average pushbike speeds 250 w in combination with probably the 150 or so provided by...

What do you do to prevent theft of your e-bikes/battery?

I have a cross beam in garage from which my bikes are hung by saddles. . In relevant place I have drilled 2 holes per bike into which I put a Kryptonite bike lock. The tangs point down, and align with top tube of each bike. (one either side) The locking part of "lock" simply joins the tangs...

DVSA take companies to Court for selling illegal bikes.

Having rules and enforcing them are very different. (apparently both on site and generally with regard sticking to nominal 250w, max aided speed of 15.5 mph or even having a throttle.) Found attached in about 15 seconds of searching. Premise of erntire thread was OP wanted a derestricted...

DVSA take companies to Court for selling illegal bikes.

Fast cars are registered, taxed and insured as such. The bikes in question are pretending to be something they aren't. Yes, there is a little leeway on 250w nominal power even legal pedelecs exploit, but come on. Look on eBay, folk are buying 1500w hub motored bikes and hiding behind pedelec...

DVSA take companies to Court for selling illegal bikes.

https://cyclingindustry.news/mate-bike-pulled-up-by-dvsa-over-high-powered-ebikes-must-recall/ Beginning of end for all the folk riding motorbikes disguised as pedelecs. Been saying it years, if you want a motorbike buy one. There was a bloke out other day who joined me around Lady Bower. His...

    Tongsheng thumb throttle

The plug on back of display unit for throttle often appears fully home when it isn't. Took me a while to get mine fully engaged.. Its rather awkward.. Remove it and put a tiny bit of washing up liquid on rubber part and try rengaging in socket fully. (you can feel it go home) Good luck.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

But viability of that is totally dependant on getting good variable rate deals. As yet none of companies I have contacted are taking new customers. (Over past month or so tried a few, specifically Octopus, to no avail. Octopus simply say when things change they will contact us.) Proposed system...

    Queen Elizabeth Dies at 96

Meanwhile back in the lunatic asylum, teachers being locked up for refusing to call girls "he" and boys "she".. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/teacher-jailed-school-suspension-pronouns-b2160904.html I wonder wether somebody from 50 years ago teleported into today's world would...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

My maximum of 9 (240w) panels, 3 of which are not ideally aligned perhaps limits our "theoretical" figure of 2300 kwh per year. But even if I could double that I still doubt it would feasible to run a 64 kwh battery vehicle. (both companies said forget charging car with solar panels???) Perhapd...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I looked into charging MG4 via Solar panels. Came to conclusion its not actually viable, unless you are only doing 40 miles a day or so, in which case why bother with 64kwh battery? Best our house could give was 2368 kwh per year. Average just over 6kwh a day.. 10 days to charge car?? And that...

5 years old, time for new bike?

My Haibike (Yamaha) motor failed after 5000 plus miles. Was quoted £1200 for new motor so bought a Giant Fathom 2...but then had motor Haibike motor recon Ed at Performance Bearings. The Giant has had new front and rear hubs (warranty after 400 miles), its range is identical to Haibike even...

    Home Solar Panels

Thanks both of you for comments. Never gave it a thought about usage during power cut. I, d assumed it would simply work on battery??? And system is actually 9x400 w panels.. Brain freeze putting 9x240..?? I thought price was reasonable.

    Home Solar Panels

With current situation Re energy and predicted price rises of 80% this Oct and further 50% few months later its becoming more feasible to fork out for solar panel system. On a personal (at home) we use approx 3000 kwh per annum. Been quoted £12k for a 9 x240w panel system with 3.2 kwh battery...

https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-driven/2022-mg4-trophy--ph-review/46133 Review of MG4 by PH. They are usually scathing of anything without pistons. (stands to reason I suppose, "PH"... My Haibike pulling a rickshaw with two fat ladies aboard would do that. Twizzy is amongst most useless cars I have ever had displeasure to drive. Agreed re MG4... Looks great for price. Slightly odd tho that the lower capacity battery version is a bit quicker than its counterpart bigger...

Yep, Gulags will be nice and warm with plenty of food this winter.. And hospitals over there have to leave windows open they are so hot. Folk fall out of bed and land 6 floors lower on the pavement.
