    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

I run mine pretty hard, at about 60lb. That's been pretty successful for a range of terrains for about 700K without problems. Not a puncture in sight (until tomorrow morning!)

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

There may well be a safety point but it's not the answer to the cut-out problem. Yesterday I was cycling on a flat road using no power when the display switched off. I reached down to press the battery button, display came on again .... For about 20 seconds. This happened twice more before I...

    Which Commuter Bike?

I tried both those bikes and liked them both. The Crossfire had an advantage of a more central battery leading to a bit more balanced weight. The Wisper had more kit in terms of rack etc. I enjoyed the ride on both. In the end I went with the Crossfire as it had, at the time, a heavily...

    Carrera Crossfire-E pedal assist

One of the points I liked about the Crossfire was that it rode well without power. That said it is a big heavy bike and in my case a big heavy rider so there's a lot of weight to shift. I had a some binding on the brakes which was easy to deal with but did cause some drag. It's easy to become...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Sunil, I'm not at home at the moment so I can't check but I seem to remember having to undo screws to re-align it. Not a difficult job but not "easily detachable". The cable runs along the handlebar held with a cable tie. The display unit similarly needs a screwdriver to adjust it. I've never...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Bertie, I think that's a fault on the website. The bike manual only refers to one battery size, as does the Suntour website (http://www.srsuntour-cycling.com/e-bike/ats-rear-motor-system/). So I think any crossfire e will have the 11.5 amp battery. FWIW It well suits my style of riding, mainly...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

As far as I'm aware some Halfords have current stock in some frame sizes and others on order. Apparently they sold very well in the recent sale. We're waiting for smaller frame for Mrs B, hopefully next week. Bryn

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

If the "hole in fork crown" means what I think it means, then yes it does. I had Halfords fit mudguards before I collected it. They are Bikehut at £19.99 and plug into the bottom of the fork. They look quite good to me, a slightly more mountain than city style. (I must sort out pics at some stage.)

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Sunil, I agree with you entirely. One of the key features for me was the unpowered ride. I just try to use the motor for hill and headwinds. I tend to stick to Eco mode when I turn on the motor and that fairly pushes me along and is economical on power, and I'm pretty heavy. I topped it up this...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Sunil, When I bought my bike I was so impressed that I suggested my wife should consider it. She had tested a couple of other bikes and quite liked them. Unfortunately the local Halfords was out of stock and there were none available within a sensible distance. So we put in a reservation for one...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Hi Paranoid Android (may I just call you Paranoid?) I've had something like this and I'm not sure yet if its real or imagined. I tend to cycle under my own power as much as possible, using the motor for hills, headwinds and that few moments of boost now and then. On occasions I've switched off...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Hi Sunil, Yes a pannier rack can be fitted. I had Halfords fit mudguards and rack when I bought it. It was in the Topeak Tourist range, a matching bag slides very easily into place. I find it useful in that there's no obvious place for a bottle cage and pump. The motor is torque sensor. Bryn

    Beautiful Bank Holiday!

No pics I'm afraid but, once grand-daughter had gone home, I did venture out on a gentle evening jaunt around local lanes to Dumbleton and back. Two valuable discoveries: One was a very ridable bridlepath to make up a loop. The second was how little traffic was about at that time on a BH. Even...

    Ebiking lets me..

Go up hills. We've recently retired to near the Cotswolds and the motor makes those snow clad peaks accessible.

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Gus, I'm 6'2" and 120 kgs. I bought a Crossfire this week and I feel it's a good fit. It feels robust and has powered me up some serous hills. I gave it a test up to Snowshill for its first outing. That said the handbook that comes with the bike reads "adult bicycles are designed to carry a...

    New e-bike owner

Egroover, I too have a new Crossfire. Just bought it this week, still smiling. When I drove it home it had 60% battery and a couple of hours charge topped it up. A green light comes on when complete. It is suggested that you run it flat a couple of times to optimise the battery then, "it is...

    Pete's freego.

Forgive the intrusion, I see you're from Middle Earth but were you cycling around the Arrow Valley? It seemed strangely familiar.

    Finally Bought one

I'll follow this thread with interest. My research has so far led to a Scott e-sub sport, probably from On Bikes. Its good to hear more positive responses about both. Circumstances however mean that I'm further back in terms of buying. Lets see what develops next.
