    Cannondale Synapse Neo

I did 51 miles and well over 2000 ft of ascent yesterday on the Neo. I still had 3 bars of battery left at the end of the ride. So if my body could cope with it (couldn't at the moment) then the bike would easily be capable of 100 miles or more on one charge. As an indication one of the lads...

    Orbea Gain auxiliary battery

I've just read on another forum that the aux battery for the Gain and I assume other bikes using the same system is soon to be released. Some details here https://www.ebikemotion.com/web/x35-range-extender/ Word is that its going to cost £510 , the capacity is 208 Wh, I'm guessing there must...

    Orbea Gain auxiliary battery

If money was no object and you were to buy the top of the range Cannondale Neo and then trick it out with all the super expensive but light weight components that money can buy. What weight could you get it down to?

    Orbea Gain auxiliary battery

I weighed my Cannondale Neo the other day, came out to 18.46 kg. I think if you live in an area with lots of steep hills, and also lots of wind then a Bosch equipped bike is probably a wiser choice. Unless of course you already have a decent level of cycling fitness and can get up most hills...

Lightweight urban e-bikes such as Ampler Curt, Orbea Gain F40 etc.

Yes its the same system as used on the Orbea Gain and many others. Don't hold your breath waiting for the range extending battery though. It has been promised for well over a year and still no sign of it.

    What's the most efficient speed?

Ah I think I get it now. So when the OP was doing 18mph he was doing a fair amount of the work in addition to the bike motor, but when he increased the speed to 20 mph, the motor was left to do all the effort.

    What's the most efficient speed?

I just tried an on line simulator (this was for conventional bikes not pedal assist) and kept all the parameters the same except increasing the required speed from 18 to 20 mph. The power required went from 182.7 W to 237.7 W, so an increase of just over 30%. This was the type of increase I...

    Cannondale Synapse Neo

I weighed the Neo yesterday came out to 18.46 kg, which is a fair bit heavier than the Orbea Gain I think. This past week I have stopped wearing my cold weather clothing and switched to fairly tight fitting summer cycling clothing. Its surprising how much of a difference that makes, I think...

    Copper Grease

I think I have read on this forum in the past that copper grease can cause corrosion due to electrolytic action taking place between different types of metals. Someone might be able to find the thread for you, I will take a look but I often struggle to find previous threads.

    What's the most efficient speed?

Something does not seem quite right with these figures. To increase the speed by a little over 10% (18 to 20 mph), requires a 100% increase in power (200 W to 400 W). I know overcoming wind resistance becomes increasingly important as speeds increase, but I would be surprised if a 10% increase...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I agree, but not only that, if the missions had been faked the Russians would have taken great delight in exposing the fake. They were in competition with the USA at the time. I suspect vfr400 might be just teasing us a little on the Brexit thread. He strikes me as quite a bright fellow from...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I really don't like the extremes (far left or far right) on either side to be honest with you. They both seem to attract their fair share of nutters. Unfortunately politics in this country and the rest of the EU seems to be moving more to towards the extremes not sure why.

New Raleigh Motus Grand Tour delivered but I cannot put the pedals on - help!

If you tried one of them and it did not seem to want to screw in, did you swop it for the other one and try that? They each have different threads which is why they are usually labelled L and R, but as SW says the cheaper ones often don't.

Good points, I hadn't thought of them to be honest with you.

    Orbea Gain auxiliary battery

I'm surprised that an entrepreneur somewhere hasn't come up with an Aux battery for this system. Its not just the Gain that would be the market, there are now lots of manufacturer using this system so I think there would be a fair amount of demand.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Why do Labour keep shooting themselves in the foot? I wonder sometimes if the hard left actually want to be in power or just remain as a sort of protest group. Moaning about everything but not having to worry about ever having to make any important decisions about the future of the country...

Bosch Power Tube Battery latch frustration

Hi Omegayo, I don't really have an answer to your problem but I am not a fan of the latch system that Bosch use for their power tube batteries. I have two e-bikes both using the power tube and they are both fairly awkward to remove from the bikes. So much so that I hardly ever take the...
