    Would you convert this bike?

congrats, looks lovely to me (and inspirational, I've got a knackered Raleigh roadster I'm converting, for the hell of it, and irony of speeding up hills on something designed to potter fifty years ago).

CycleCharge: Anyone need e-bike motor, kit or battery?

many thanks, that's very helpful and sounds like something I could manage - i will go ahead and let you all know how it works out (at least no risk of burning a BPM2 out against a hill while under-currenting it i guess)

CycleCharge: Anyone need e-bike motor, kit or battery?

apologies to get back to a technical issue - I humbly concede that all of you seem to know a great deal more than me about how capitalist systems should work - but does anyone know how to make a battery with integrated controller work with a BPM2 type motor with external speed sensor? many, many...

CycleCharge: Anyone need e-bike motor, kit or battery?

MSF (Medicins Sans Frontieres) has succesfully managed to provide affordable HIV drugs (http://www.msf.org/article/msf-and-ukrainian-ngo-criticise-ukrainian-hivaids-deal) - i can imaginie that could be upsetting to multinational drug companies (and that one could be concerned about their profit...

CycleCharge: Anyone need e-bike motor, kit or battery?

having worked for quite a few (flourishing, long standing) NGO's I'd say that one answer is if it works in the real world, it works.

CycleCharge: Anyone need e-bike motor, kit or battery?

apologies for another technical question - I gather from BMSbattery and the previous conversation Morphix that those bottle batteries with built in controllers only work with hub motors that have built in speed sensors. Does anyone know whether that means they really wont work with a BPM2? I'm...

    Rear hub

in my limited experience noise is a non issue with regards to the BPM (its quiet) - but ive read the controller matters, apparently for some reason torque simulating ones like S12SH is quiter, and it climbs hills (least in the configuration I tried) in ways that would leave some mopeds behind

    Rear hub

strictly for what its worth - I've tried (several times) a Raleigh twenty with a BPM2 and some Hobbyking Lipos at full whack (with a S12SH controller pushing 1550W no less - at this point one has to lean forward on the somewhat odd geometry of a Raleigh twenty to prevent wheelying, even at the...

proteam bike ( cyclamatic) electric problem

crikey, just to say this is the most unbelievably helpful post (we could all go and build pedelecs after this)

    The psychology of thieves.

erm, d8veh, do you sell any of those lovely 250w xiongda stickers I couldn't help noticing after the pic of the lock (I need it for s friend who wants to enhance the look of his BPM)

    What should i buy? Trike/eped/allseasons emotor/ e scooter moped..

apologies if this is a bit of a tangent - but if i were in your shoes and had a budget of £500 I'd get a BPM2 kit with an S12SH controller and 48V battery from BMSBattery. I tried on the other day on a significantly steeper than 10% hill and was accelerating - astonishingly quickly - as i was...

    Giant Lafree Twist 'Lite' F/S

many thanks, that's pretty cheap compared to BMSbattery, i wish kudos would say the capacity (one could get 20 AH worth of 7S lipo from hobbyking for £200)

    Giant Lafree Twist 'Lite' F/S

many thanks for the great answer - it addresses all the stuff I worried about, and the fact that it's all 24 V is great news. 7S should be doable though, i imagine, either in 4S and 3S or straight 7S (too bad 6S is the most my Lipo charger will do).

    Giant Lafree Twist 'Lite' F/S

many thanks - I guess i worry most about the LVC - whether the old NiMH pack and a 6S' is similar? if it isn't one could either get very little range or destroy the 6S. While I'm all for wild experimentation, I was hoping to do this in a way that wouldn't go tits up..

    Giant Lafree Twist 'Lite' F/S

dear all, apologies if this is hijacking a thread, i couldn't find how to make a new post - but here goes: I've been given a giant la free twist for free - the catch is that its battery is dead. what would happen if i put a hobby king 6s (say a 16000mAh) in the old battery compartment? would it...
