She struggled until I showed her how to use the throttle.

A dodgy knee has plagued my better half for a few years now. Making her not too keen on going out for bike rides. I've managed to get her out for a bit of a ride every now and then. But I'd not shown her how to work the thumb throttle until today. Once I'd shown her, she wouldn't stay off...

Is it worth having a throttle?

I reckon that he's done around 7000 miles, ebiking, scootering and canicross running with me now. So yeah, fitter than most. :)

    Throttles allowed?

Maybe they were older bikes that had 'Grandfather rights' relating to full speed throttles being allowed? :)

Police say electric bikes illegal in Northern Ireland

Hi TedG :) It seems that others, even businesses, are flouting the law. Or basically just ignoring it's ludicrousness, without being bothered. Why would anyone trouble you?.. You already know the answer to that question, you wouldn't be troubled. You just worry about the worst case scenario...

    Bike horns

I think that cyclists that warn the road ahead are more appreciated than those that don't. ;)

    Bike horns

I usually just have my mp3 player, affixed to the bars, playing a bit of music. With that I rarely need to use the bell or the cheap £6 ebay horn / siren thing that I have. :)

    Dreaded crossfire cutout.

Nope. You know the defective fault exists and it's you taking the risk in riding it. Not Halfrauds. They just sell you known junk. The choice to continue to use it, or return it to them is yours. If and when that car hits you, it'll be your risk alone.

    Hi from Scotland

It's easily do-able going up the stairs using the walk mode. On the way down you just use gravity and the brakes to control your descent. Here's a video, going up stairs with my heaviest bike. Demonstration with the motor off and then on with a 30 kg ebike (66 lbs, 4 stone 7 lbs). :D
