Oh I seem to have messed up!

I never saw the frame in question but I believe it was at the seat end, I have seen the same thing happen even on steel frames...and you haven't with all your experience ? I don't believe that sorry vfr it happens and you know it. Here's another one to ponder over, that same friend of mine (him...

Oh I seem to have messed up!

I don't know TBH but I know it wrecked his frame though. It's not so much a case of a frame suddenly snapping in two, more a matter of stress fractures that can't be seen with the naked eye. Aircraft don't suddenly fall apart in the sky luckily but they're regularly x-rayed for signs of fracture...

Oh I seem to have messed up!

It just depends on what your approach is to a problem is. Let's put it this way if you purchased a frame & wheels from a professional bike company like say Evans or wiggle, went to pick the items up and asked the assistant to pop the wheels into the frame for easier transport to your car. The...

Oh I seem to have messed up!

That's why I said earlier that when someone makes a ralls-up of something they've done wrong they tend to keep schtum and not look silly, human nature really. When something goes well you want to share it with others so they might benefit as well. I have a mate who's frame cracked at a weld...

Oh I seem to have messed up!

You're quite right Monty members do on occasions talk of stretching frames with success, but then they're hardly likely to comment if they made a mess-up of it. We all like to talk of our endeavours and success's, less likely to mention failures...not too good for our street cred ;) Seriously...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Theft from homes unoccupied is burglary, during the war it was looting and the penalty was severe but generally speaking people behaved and helped each other because they were all in it together. Interestingly it could be said the brits are showing resolve now during this crisis by just carrying...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

No I'm talking about the sort of camaraderie that existed between neighbours for example. Someone's house got bombed and the whole street helped out because they knew it could be them next time, with covid no one cares about anyone else probably because they don't care about themselves either. I...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I agree with Barry 100% this country just does not have the resilience to hang on, knuckle down and stick it out. Where's the old wartime spirit gone, this is still a war but this time against a virus. We'll win in the end but that will come sooner if people were to behave and the Gov make...

    theft of electric bikes

Here's a tip. Many Supermarket car parks, most car parks in fact are monitored not by the building/business they serve but by private car park companies. A while back I saw someone bugging people going into my local Tesco store, I reported it to their security staff but was told their cameras...

Ebike charging using Street EV chargers for electric cars

Yes of course Wheezy you must ask permission first before plugging into someone else's electricity supply. Young people do it all the time though.....ah what it is to be young :)

Ebike charging using Street EV chargers for electric cars

Kids charge up their mobiles phones in shopping malls and in the entrances to large supermarkets, there's wall sockets all over if you look hard they're put there for the cleaners to power-up vacuums. It's been going on for years done it myself a few times, it's known as Guerrilla Charging...

    theft of electric bikes

I have the very same alarm as andy, doubles as a rear light too. I set mine off once by mistake and had people running out of a shop to see what the racket was about. Highly recommended is the term I'd use.

Oh I seem to have messed up!

There I'd agree with you Monty homework is essential, I'd still argue Yose should get their act together and give a correct description of a component then you could make your own mind up as to whether it's worth making it fit. Of course if it fits from the off, well....no problem. There's...

Oh I seem to have messed up!

I would most certainly expect compensation in respect of the fact I was mis sold in the first place. Yose have the OP's cash and are laughing but he's not. Would I have an issue with a company that gave a false description to the items it sells....most certainly, as a retired businessman myself...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I would advise everyone not to go outside for the next 5 years and if you're really lucky you might just dodge it....Happy Christmas :)

Oh I seem to have messed up!

Good on you Monty, may your success last. As for me I'd get my money back and possibly a freebie to boot, all my wheels drop straight into their frames/forks so I don't need to bend anything. Yose wont have to deal with me as they wont get any of my cash if they miss sell as they clearly do and...

Oh I seem to have messed up!

I could show you my mate David's frame that broke because he sprung it !The point is the frame will most likely withstand stretching a certain extent but the welds wont, that's where the stress is maximised and that's the weak point not the frame itself. This is all beside the point however...

Oh I seem to have messed up!

This is an old chestnut stretching bike frames, it usually divides opinion between those like me who say you shouldn't and others who have done so with no ill effects. There's a difference between stretching a frame and cold-setting, that being one just eases the metalwork slightly apart and the...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Cheer up everyone, at least we now have own very own virus - covid-20 - code named The Boris Bug. Developed right here in the UK it's 71% more efficient than covid-19 and is " WORLD BEATING". Exports have already started with China expected to receive their first doses soon :)
