Bosch cx motor failed again 4th

Most eBike motors are not designed to be serviced or maintained. Yamaha, Impulse and Panasonic do like a bit of fresh grease every 1,500 miles or so, but Bosch, Brose, Shimano etc. have sealed ball bearings that should be good for the life of the motor. As we all know though, if you play with...

Bosch cx motor failed again 4th

Just for info, I have had 4 Bosch motors in from North Wales and the lakes this week and they all had code 500. All were suffering from water ingress. None of the owners pressure washed their bikes and yet they had the same issue and here is what happens: It only takes a very small quantity of...

    Bosch (cube) Issues

Thank you to Soundwave for the shout out. We would definitely be able to help you Bikesman, and for a lot less than a new motor. Plus you get another 12 months guarantee for piece of mind. (That's unless you wanted an excuse for a new bike? ;) )

No problem. I did this for both the seal and MudStop together.

    Bosch (cube) Issues

If a new battery makes no difference, this can also happen if there is a circuit board or Battery management board fault. The controller will try and turn the power on and if the safety systems are really unhappy about something, they will just cut the power again.

Finally got round to putting something together for the MudStop. Hopefully this will alleviate any fears.

    Bosch CX error code 530

Normally, you can just take the plastic cover off the left-hand side of the motor and pull the power plug from the motor. You should be able to get enough slack to lift the battery plug. (You will have to release the little locking tab on the side of the motor power plug before pulling it from...

    Bosch drive unit maintenance kit

Mike, I have an Active Line plus motor here, when I get a moment, I will strip it down and see if I can see anything that I think could cause your problem?

Fitting a Bafang (or other) motor into Bosch designed frame

Thanks for all your comments guys. Just to let you know Bosch will be supporting the Performance Line range of motors for the next 10 years. And we certainly have enough parts and motors to keep going for a few years yet! For those of you looking for open source motors, we may have a solution...

Ok, so the crank has a complete disconnect when it is not on or you are pedalling faster than 15.5mph, so the only "drag" possible here would be through the crankshaft bearings or clutch bearing. It is highly unlikely to be this, especially being an intermittent fault. I am guessing you have...

So, when your motor is switched off and hard to pedal, your motor is actually feeling even harder to pedal than it would when normally un-assisted?

    Bosch drive unit maintenance kit

Hi Mike, Sorry if my post caused confusion. I accidentally stated Active Line "Plus" Gen 2, I have edited my post to remove "Plus". I actually meant the Bosch older Bosch Active Line. The Plus Gen 3 motor is entirely different internally and although I have taken them apart a few times, I don't...

Bosch should support the old motors for 10 years, but you can't stock up on parts because they don't sell any apart from the service kit. You can only buy an exchange motor. Or you can always contact us if it's bearings or any other internal parts.

As Barrio says regards noise and vibration, but be a bit cereful, much of this can be caused by poor condition, chain and sprockets, failing pedals, loose crank arms, loose motor bolts etc, etc. The symptoms of bearing failure will depend on which bearing is failing, but the most common bearings...

    Bosch motor system life expectancy

I don't dispute this in any way. My comment was that regardless of whether it's fresh or salt water, if it gets inside the bearing it will destroy it. So you shouldn't be scared of riding in the winter.

    Bosch motor system life expectancy

Firstly, thanks for all the shout-outs for Performance Line Bearings, really do appreciate it. And Kingsknight, please don't worry. These motors are good for 20,000+ miles if looked after. If it does fail, we can repair it within a day so down time should not be a concern. Most repairs equate to...
