Help! Erratic controller behaviour - is it a programming issue?

I think you are correct. The software has current control loops as shown even in basic controller below and the duty cycle is constantly been adjusted. The shunt is used to generate a current signal which is connected to one of the analogue inputs of the micro-controller. By the way, I like to...

Do police even bother to check if an e-bike is legal?

There is a situation where I think its very critical as to whether an ebike is precisely legal or not. (or so it seems) Say I am walking down the streets of London and am hit and injured by an ebike. I then try to take a civil action for my injuries. It seems that it is essential for me to know...

    Kt-lcd5 version 1

Dont forget that 'Holding the up and down button' must normally be done immediately (within 5 seconds) after switching/powering on the bike with the center power on button.

Repurpose LED panels from a crumbled Amazon light to make bike lights?

Last year I dismantled a faulty domestic 470 lumens 230v 5.5w light bulb. It consisted of a small full wave bridge rectifier feeding its dc output to 9 leds ( and a resistor) in series. (daisy chain). One of the leds had blown and disconnected the chain. I was able to repurpose it to work at 36v...

KT LCD5 controller issue with throttle and PAS

The pins are oxidized. The green stuff looks like copper oxide (Verdigris) that has migrated from the pins. The shiny (gold?) plating is destroyed. The female side in the control cable is also probably oxidized/damaged. If it was my bike, I would just cut out the connectors and connect the...

    E bike hub wiring net

I have one motor that still works ok but the windings are darker/scorched on the top and the lacing twine/thread is burnt and broken. It doesn't seem to be a problem as I think the windings are glued in ( I think epoxy) after lacing. I think It can get very hot inside a motor. But I'm no...

    Pendleton Sommersby Batter and Charger

Hi I am just wondering if your bike has the newer or older version of battery and charger. The older version has a charger with a 5 pin din type connector Model number SSLC084V42.. and the battery/charger connections are as shown in photo's below. It would be helpful to know which version you...

    Carrera Vulcan front hub installation

I put a 26 inch rear hub motor wheel (which are more easy to get than 27.5) on a secondhand Carrera Vengence lately (which I suspect may be similar to the Vulcan in some ways). It looked and handled OK despite the wheel been slightly smaller than the 27.5 normally fitted. There is really only...

    Help! Incorrect motor?

Hi. As a matter of interest, what is the actual outside diameter of the wheels tyre when measured with a ruler or tape? I ask this because I have seen one fat tyre bike with 20 X 4 tyres that measured close to 24 inches outside diameter.

    Discharge Converters?

Here is one of my versions. Its a 40 (20+20) Amp 60V dual (common cathode) mounted on a piece of aluminium.

    Discharge Converters?

No. The explanation is given below but note this is a slightly different/variation of the application that we want. Full document attached below.

    Discharge Converters?

They are very easy items to test. All you need is a multimeter. I use the older homemade schottky diode version. There is one major supplier presently selling a version for 15 euros so I dont see any reason why I would distrust the technology. Ideal blocking diodes now are dirt cheap as they...

    Discharge Converters?

Its the ideal diode setup, something like as shown below. I think the (insertion) loss is about 50mV.

    Discharge Converters?

The mosfets are mentioned in video above at about 5 minutes and as shown in photo below.(which I labeled for your convenience). I'm not sure whether that particular device allows parallel working of batteries or just switches.

    Discharge Converters?

I have to disagree. Running two batteries in parallel reduces the stress and sag of the batteries and I think is better, compared to switching batteries. The mosfets in the product above are better (less loss) than schottky diodes which loose about half a volt at full current.
