    Purely Hypothetical

Actually, if you think about it, nearly all front hub pedal assist bikes are two wheel drive. (legs drive rear, motor drives front). Anyhow, I would not fit a front hub to tsdz2 as its fast enough for me as its is and has enough torque, and anyhow, its possible to get even more torque by...

    Purely Hypothetical

The link below is the model of both motors climbing a 10% grade. (1 in 10). Both motor run to the max and so power splits well. A lower pas (4) is selected for lesser grades. Now I am not really a fan of 2wd as such and have no problems from a traction point of view. Actually, a lot of the...

    Purely Hypothetical

I have a few mountain roads beside me with 300 meter climbs and over 12% grades in places. My single hub yose 350w rear was just stalling on the climbs (my legs were not strong enough to keep it going) so I stuck a spare old mxus xf07 on the front to try it out. It was great, so I left it for...

Just bought a used Woosh Fat Boy

1 ..I think most controllers (on the label) are rated in terms of battery current (often both continuous and maximum). By the way, motor current and battery current are the same once the motor is spinning fast e.g greater than 70%-80% of max speed. Its when the motor start to slow down under load...

Just bought a used Woosh Fat Boy

Hi. The 'significantly sized inductor' is the motor winding itself. I have attached a good educational booklet explaining how these motors behave during pulse width modulation. Page 14 & 15 in particular gives some explanation of how this extra current occurs during the 'diode freewheeling...

Just bought a used Woosh Fat Boy

I think there is some things people are forgetting. Firstly, to get more torque, (other than changing gearing) you always have to put more current through the motor, as torque is proportional to current. Battery current is not the same as phase (motor) current. The extra torque that comes from...

Help! Lishui controller and LCD vs KT controller and LCD

By the way, there is a huge 163 page discussion on KT controllers on endless sphere which included a way of hacking and reprogramming power levels etc. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=87870 PS. I find the gap between PAS 4 (50%) and PAS 5 (100%) a bit too wide. I would...

    Chain lube

Cheaper.......When the bottle is empty, refill with 3 parts paraffin (kerosene) to one part motor or gear oil. Shake the bottle before use. Diesel or white spirits have been used instead of paraffin.

    Optimum wheel diameter for e-bikes

Strictly (mathmatically) speaking, a smaller wheel does not increase the torque. However, it does increase the thrust (horizontal pushing power) substantially, so going from 26 to 20 inch gives 30% more 'thrust' at the expense of about 30% less speed. e.g. and notice that blue line below...

    Removing controller from aluminium casing

Hi Andy. I have attached a (general) schematic of a KT controller.

Carrera vengeance e bike flashing lights not working now

Hi. The hi+ low flashing lights on 790 unit means there is something wrong with either the brake switch or its wiring or brake lever not sitting back properly. If you cannot visually see anything wrong, trace the cable from each of the levers to connector and disconnect one at a time, starting...

Help me save my new motor!

The above looks like mosfet short circuit in controller causing current to flow through motor winding when idle. Are you sure the controllers ok?

    Pendleton ebike

No. The 790 is probably OK. Other than visually checking over the bike to see if there is nothing obviously faulty/ all connectors fully pluged in etc., you are probably best to return to shop, as I think there is a two year guarantee with the electrics and the indications are that there is...

    Overvolting a controller

I use a 40 Amp (duel 2 X 20 diodes, controller is 14amp) Schottky and it works exactly as you said. It will pull more current from the higher voltage battery for only a very short period and then equalize. Indeed, I have forgotten on occasions to fully charge one of the batteries so there would...

    Pendleton ebike

The controller has a shunt and can measure and monitor the battery current. At start up, the current should be low as the motor is not running. (The mosfet are switched off). An abnormal high current points to a fault such as the mosfet faulty or possibly water in controller or damaged wiring etc.

    Pendleton ebike

It looks like an 'abnormal current level' if no other light is flashing with it. (Be sure to recheck this.) I am not sure what causes this. Others might know. On the pendleton with the'790' unit, the flashing lights give an indication to the fault. For example, the hi and low lights flashing is...

    TSDZ2

Yes. Its normal but not desirable. Its discussed with possible solutions in this link below. https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/tongsheng-crank-wobble-can-i-use-loctite.37358/#post-555256

Tongsheng tsdz2 without throttle test before installation help.

If you have the v-lcd5, you could test the motor with the 'walk assist' function. But you may have to go into menu and initialize its function first. You need to read the v-lcd5 instructions to do this.

    BBS01 Chainrings

On most 'controlled' electric motors, the power seems to peaks around 60-70% of max rpm but the motor is most efficient above 80%. (RPM = cadence on a mid drive) The motor simulator can illustrate this e.g. On a 10% hill climb, the 24T rear cog has more power and faster than the 34T, but is...
