Yes, Corbyn would have been infinitely better and definitely secured the win. The problem Labour has is that no one knows what they are about. I have no idea what’s on offer.

I’ve been away for a while, but see things haven’t changed much.

Income is irrelevant. Income has no bearing on VEL or insurance. All I’m saying is, if you are paying that much for insurance, they’ve had your trousers down and are jiggling your balls on a builders trowel.

Interesting. I’m very supportive of the move to electric cars and will buy one in the not too distant future. I’ve been away from this thread for a while and don’t have time to read what I’ve missed. Has anything been said about battery life? What range could be expected after 10 years or...

Doesn’t matter. There still aren’t enough. It takes about 3 minutes to fill a car with diesel energy. It takes about 1 hour to fill an electric car with energy at a rapid charge point. Longer if it’s not rapid.

I know all that about people with drives and who own a garage door. But there are many people in the U.K. who aren’t so lucky and would need to rely on street charging. It’s quite possible for there to be 100 cars parked on a street and only 10 lamp posts. What do the other 90 EV owners do...

If you are paying that, they’ve had your trousers down mate.

I thought EVs were zero rated for road tax? Multi-car insurance policy? Don’t think you’d notice much difference. I’d save money on those two fronts.

But for street charging, wouldn’t that involve getting up in middle of the night to vacate a charging point so that someone else can get up in middle of the night to plug their car in? I don’t think generating capacity is the problem. It’s the large number of people who can’t accommodate a...

If every lamp post had a charging point, there still wouldn’t be enough. People would be stabbing or bludgeoning each other to death in squabbles over access. People have laid down their lives to secure a supermarket parking space in the past, street charging is going to be like the bloodiest...

Good point. Do you think it’s time the U.K. made a pre-emptive nuclear strike against France? A few buckets of sunshine scattered around the place should calm things down.

Right now, taking into account sensible purchase cost to vehicle range, two car owners could swap one ICE vehicle for an electric. That’s about my situation. 85% + of my journeys would work with an electric car. My beaten up old Subaru Forester, which owes me nothing would take care of the rest...

That doesn’t matter in the slightest. Most EU countries want to tap into the U.K. travel industry. They’ll let U.K. residents in, absolutely no problem.

As soon as you hear about a new variant, assume that’s its here and has spread everywhere. We aren’t bad at finding new variants, but it all falls apart at the stage of stopping it coming here and tracking the people who are infected.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I don’t really care what people do. Lockdown / risk of infection doesn’t really affect me. Most of my activity is outside and I’ve absolutely no desire to go into a pub or a shop. We should all know by now how this works. People either take it seriously or they don’t. We know the outcome of...

There is no doubt that we are in a better position than we were four weeks after, “Boris Battles the Boffins to save Christmas.” Anyone remember that headline? I bet they’d like you to forget it now the cost of that battle ended up being around 60000 casualties. All of them foot soldiers, no...

Nice. I always liked the look of those when I was a kid. My dad had a Mk2 Cortina 1600E. That was a great car. I can still remember the image of him driving along the driveway up to the house when he’d been to pick it up. It was his first new car. After owning it for a couple of years, he put...
