News - DfT: Pedal cycles converted to ‘twist and go’ exempt from type approval

Hi Helen, Thank you again for your continuing effort. I wonder if you could confirm a couple of points. 1.Did the DfT email contain any disclaimer. 2. Regarding home builds would the DfT accept the home builders name for the purposes of the manufacturers information that has to be placed on...

    L1e-A testing requirements

I think Michael Gove sums it up well in the Guardian: “It is time that liberals everywhere saw the EU for what it is: essentially a stitch-up between the very biggest corporations, their lobbyists and the commission to frame regulation in such a way as to keep out the competition, especially …...

    L1e-A testing requirements

I believe there has been too much emphasis given to commercial matters when drafting these new Regulations and it is in my opinion not proportional. The quality and safety concerns raised back in 2002 with the old repealed regulations, I think, no longer apply but unfortunately they are kept to...

    L1e-A testing requirements

It now confirms that the Commission takes full responsibility for the current situation and that they and only they would be answerable to the question of justification of the decision should a challenge be made against it.

Just acquired this Alien ebike 36V 250W Front Hub.

If you do not have any joy you could try replacing the bearings in the nylon gears as the teeth appear to be OK. Also check the little sun gear for any play as this could cause vibrations to be transferred to the planet gear bearings when running and over time cause them to fail, I think there...

News: ‘Twist and go’ type approval guidance emerges

It is above us mere mortals - it is a matter between the UK member state and the Commission if no way can by found to type approve EAPCs.

News: ‘Twist and go’ type approval guidance emerges

So it is back to directly challenging 168/2013 Article2 2(h) on the grounds of Fundamental Rights. The topic is a hot potato at the moment due to the migrant problem and there have been quite a lot of law challenges on the Commission from Member states based on Fundamental Rights which has led...

News: ‘Twist and go’ type approval guidance emerges

I just checked the EPAC harmonization amendment 24/2015 and it does mention 168/2013 but only in reference to the power requirements, type approval is only mentioned in the guidance note from the DfT, it is not part of the law? If this is the case then a challenge could be made under item 4...

News: ‘Twist and go’ type approval guidance emerges

The good thing is the Commission does have an option to decline making a decision on a challenge under item 6 and can just let it lapse into agreement after 6 months without further legal involvement.

News: ‘Twist and go’ type approval guidance emerges

It maybe a possible challenge under item 5 above as the former UK EAPC law which met the Fundamental Rights provisions had to be changed (harmonized) to meet the requirements of EU168/2013 exemption Article2 (2h) i.e. impose the EPAC definition, but the exemption puts the new UK law under...
