Spreading rear stays for hub motor

Ok so the axle had somehow turned, presumably with great force, within the rear dropouts as Scorpio said and had jammed in there. Took me ages to notice, but with a 10mm spanner I got the axle lined up and it was back to normal brute force and out it came with a twang. Thanks for the link Tony...

Spreading rear stays for hub motor

It really is just the spacing of the rear stays as I took off the nuts and washers completely before remembering I didn’t have to. I was hoping there is some device/method other than the one Scorpio described, which is the one I use also, but I’ve lost some of the strength I once had. I can’t...

Spreading rear stays for hub motor

I fitted my Yose rear hub on my ally frame by grabbing the stays and just forcing them far enough apart to squeeze the wheel in. Whether it’s because I’d had my third Weetabix that day I don’t know, but since then, I’ve not been able to get that wheel out. I’ve got good at fixing punctures...

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

Brilliant, Woosh. Ordering now. Many thanks to you and the rest of the Pedelec team.

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

It’s one of these, with the description I mentioned above, allegedly made by ‘VGBEY’...I just took it for a spin, had to adjust that ’number of magnets’ setting people on here have struggled with that screws the speedo reading, and it def works pedalling fwd and bwd

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

Thank you for replying Woosh - I guess that’s what the ‘dual magnetic’ blurb is that was in the advert for the new sensor? But if my original sensor (nifty thing with an led, pic further up thread) was dual, and the new sensor (black, like your pic) is dual, shouldn’t things go one way only...

After ebike conversion, has anyone had a higher rate of broken spokes or bent wheels?

I’m intermittent fasting and cycling too, after a health scare, down from 143 to 120 so far (since last March). In my defense I was 117kg when I was super fit - just gym/weights/labouring then, not cycling, so aiming for sub 100kg at my age/sport, maybe another 18months. I think that still puts...

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

Extra question - I now have a new PAS sensor that mounts horizontally on a metal ring. I’ve reversed it, I’ve temporarily wired it up (scary, thanks Nealh for previous wIring match-up post) and IT WORKS! BUT! It works pedalling forwards and backwards - is this normal for this type of sensor? I’m...

After ebike conversion, has anyone had a higher rate of broken spokes or bent wheels?

Do you HAVE to be tall to be 120kg? I need to remeasure myself! ~Always thought I was 6 foot...

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

I tried this first, but couldn’t invert the sensor much past 90 degrees, let alone 180, and still get the magic end to line up with the ring of magnets. The motor came on, but cycled on/off - and the same when pedalling backwards. l’m thinking now about prising out the magnets and sticking...

Yose 350 rear hub kit - transplanted onto Scott !

I hope it will - I’ve ordered that type so I can chop it up and see - but deliveries out here (Spain) from UK are a disaster at the mo and it could take weeks to arrive, so I expect I’ll try something else in the meantime. I hate not riding.

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

I looked at those photos before but couldn’t see the sensor! I understand now that there are sensors on rings, which I can see could be flipped - or completely butchered !-) - whereas our type can’t. The comments from the guys above now make sense too. I’ll get one sent out and see what I can...

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

I do make myself laugh sometimes. I bit the bullet yesterday and reversed the disc. Really made a nice job of it too. Waited 16hrs for the glue to dry and voila! As Scorpio points out above, it still only works pedalling backwards. So, with no room to invert the sensor I guess I need to try what...

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

A bit of heat helped get the disc off the chainring unharmed, so a bit more whittling so it fits the proper way around and I’m good. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I really appreciate this site. Is there a rapid (ie not Chinese) source of magnet discs so I have a spare?

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

Oh I know that now. Hindsight is 20/20! Hmmm, I’ll try and see it the magnets will come out. Thanks for the idea. I can always glue them back in (I’m good with glue!) I wonder why changing the setting didn’t work?

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

Darn. It didn’t. I saved the setting to ‘back direction’, but whereas before the LED lit up and the motor came on (forwards) when pedalling backwards, now the light still only comes on when pedalling backwards, but there is no power in either direction. I feel I’m close...It’s really frustrating!

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

It’s the same Lishui as you had Scorpio, that came with the Yose kit. You flipped the magnet disc when you fitted it to the drive side I assume? Like a wise person would?

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

I’m looking...but inverting the sensor means I can’t position it close enough to ‘reach’ the magnets, and the sensor bracket is already as close to them as the frame allows. There is no problem taking the cranks off - it’s just that the magnet disc has been glued to the chainring so it can’t be...

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

Thanks (again) vfr - so I’m drilling holes to mount it back onto the bracket and rotate it like this? There’s also a red led, can I just ignore it?
