I too have a Specialised Crosstrail for conversion, but want a smaller more lightweight conversion for it. I will start another thread on it, as do not want to hijack yours. Will be interested to see what you end up with and how it looks/performs.

When your 12 month warranty expires then take out a £30 year Halfords care package. It includes all labour costs and a free service. So you just have to pay for the spokes that are about 50p each !

Did you go for the £449 kit ? I assume you could upgrade your display to a bigger, easier to use one..

There are 2 companies both called Electric Bike Conversions (EBC) which is a little strange. Did you buy the 250w kit ? Sound as though it has a good range..

What kit did you buy as their website only lists 250 500 and 1000w kits. Is the website out of date?

Are you considering upgrading the controller to give it a little more power? What controller you thinking of? Very neat job.

Is there such a thing as a bbs02 250w 36v or are all the 250w outputs a bbs01 ?

What is the difference between bbs01 and bbs02? I see Eclipse sell the bbs01 in 250w 36v . I was wondering if there was a bbs02 250w36v. Is it a model upgrade or is that the B suffix?

Have to disagree with the Carerra 'slaters'. They do what you need from an electric bike very well. Admittedly the Halfords staff are not the most knowledgable on the subject but the few small issues I have had I just pop into my nearest one and they fix it there and then or swap the...

I would recommend the Carrera over a mail order bike. There is a Halfords in every town, the warranty is very good and the bike is a great piece of kit at the price, great all rounder,which is also on sale at the moment. Can't go wrong..

I don't turn them off, as after a ride the system shuts itself down after a short time..

Well it looks as though Halfords are now selling loads of different electric bikes from lots of manufacturers. Should help with their knowledge base.. Did you get yours on sale as can't see any sale on the electrics at the moment.

I get 30 to 40 miles out of my Carrera and the Mrs gets about 10miles more, as she is lighter and uses less pedal help! Carrera is a good bike for the money..

I don't think they have changed the battery. It looks identical anyway. They haven't removed the USB from the display either, ( mine has the new display) they have just made it into a smaller mini usb, so the Halfords chap probably couldn't see it !

The rack battery as above looks the way to go. Looks neat and clean too with the controller etc hidden away. Useful storage platform is a bonus too..
