    Looking for a bike!

you would have to up your budget quite a lot to find a bike better for Derbyshire's hills than the Woosh Santana2. http://www.oxygenbicycles.com/e-bikes/s-cross-st

    Leaving the EU

Paxman on BBC1 tonight at 8pm. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07c6n58 He is a eurosceptic but with some nuance and would make a much better leader for the leave campaign than that buffoon Boris. The Pound recovers strongly after Boris mentioned the 'H' word.

    Looking for a bike!

step through and lightweight are quite difficult to achieve, plus your budget is only enough for the cheapest e-bikes in the shops. The nearest to your requirements that I can suggest is the Woosh Santana at £779 http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?santana2

    Introducing the new Woosh Bermuda

@patpatbut thanks. I am still looking for a factory that agrees to customize a full-sus frame to accommodate a battery in the downtube. The difficulty is the very small volume, just 100 pieces. The normal water bottle fixings are not good enough to hold a 3kg battery on rough terrains.

    Introducing the new Woosh Bermuda

@Kenny thanks. The brief was to make an economical commuter to replace the original £599 Sirocco. Not much money to play with. Can't fit a nice fork and hydraulic brakes at this spending limit.

    Introducing the new Woosh Bermuda

@acm2000 it does not pull as fast as the Krieger (the Krieger has 20A controller), but is a fair bit cheaper to make.

    Introducing the new Woosh Bermuda

This is the second bike I helped in developing after the Karoo. It's currently at sea, on its way to Woosh. The original Woosh Sirocco (still selling) is going to be superseeded by this new one. I have upgraded most components to reflect the needs of medium and long distance commuting while...

    Electric kit for Helios Tandem?

it's usually not easy to fit a BBS01 CD kit to a tandem because most of them have an eccentric bottom bracket at the front for chain tensioning. The front BPM motor is a much better choice on 26" wheels but too big, heavy and slow on 20" wheels. I agree with Mechaniker that a good DD motor like...

    Lightweight kit

no, my Giant is a cheap £299 10.2kg bike. This one (12.7kg) built by Mechaniker is the bees' knees. similar electrics but starting off from a carbon Radon Spire, under 7kg bike. It goes to show that you don't have to spend £1500 or more for a good e-bike...

Pedelecs frum makes me feel sick

The converted bike is legal if your motor has an EN151954 certificate and you have not tampered with the LCD. I am sure your supplier will support you in case you have troubles with the police. Ask for it and an EN15194 sticker if you buy a kit.

Pedelecs frum makes me feel sick

flud, as far as I know, only Soundwave shows off his dongle and his LCD in the wrong places. Most newbies who ask questions about how to derestrict their bikes are usually given the information and a reminder that it's illegal to do so and so. The responsibility of organising the categories and...

    27.5+ Conversion

the BSD is the same for both 650B and 650B+. You need 36 holes though. Something like this but wider: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/ambrosio-ak-30-275-584-rim-black-prod41380/

    27.5+ Conversion

not quite. The Marin wheelset has 32H. All the e-bike hub motors have 36H. You can't lace a 36H hub to a 32H rim, so you'll need to buy a new 650B wheelset and recover the rear rim for your motor.

    27.5+ Conversion

the marin website lists the rear hub as so it shouldn't be a problem. Most rear hub kits with cassette fit 135mm dropout.

    pedelecs banned from UK event...

Col, BHF do not ban e-bikes in all the bike rides organized by them or by the cycling events companies, only in some big rides. http://www.bike-events.co.uk/Generic.aspx?tid=RideRules

Pedelecs frum makes me feel sick

flud, the forum was a broad church place until very recently - about 2 years ago. I hate to see that freedom of information being curtailed because some people want to shape the forum to their personal views.

    pedelecs banned from UK event...

Col, I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill. this is from the BHF website: I think they simply want to reduce the overall risks in what is a very large event with more than 10,000 people taking part. As a side remark, If you ride an e-bike in such events, you will overtake the...

Pedelecs frum makes me feel sick

the word 'forums' is in plural, that implies to me that all forms of pedelecs are welcome and not 'illegal pedelecs are banned here'.

before you give up on the idea of a rear hub conversion, measure the width of the rear drop out or post the model of your bike. Members may suggest a suitable hub kit.
