Oxygen Emate City / Replacement Pedelec Magnetic disc

I would contact Oxygen. Whenever I've had a query, they've been very helpful.

    Should I bother with registration?

If the motor is more powerful than 250W, or if it assists you when you’re riding more than 15.5 mph – it will need to be registered, insured and taxed as a motor vehicle. In this case, you will also need a driving licence, and you must wear a motorcycle helmet.

what long sleeved thermals/base layers are you brave comuters using

The mens merino-mix thermals are very good and although not 100% like Icebreaker and other brands, I've found them just as warm in winter and they tumble dry so are cheaper and very practical.

Do you think an ebike could compete in the Scottish six day trials?

Possibly it could but having been tangled up in it annually for the last 10 years, I wouldn't want to do it on an e-bike (although it is for motorcycles only). The noise and fumes make it highly unpleasant, every layby is blocked with service vehicles and the routes can be packed solid. Those...

Could this be used to charge an ebike battery.

A typical e-bike charger (mine) has an output of 42V /60W. This is 6V/3W - so is underpowered.

    Puncture proofing tyres

I use Slime in my tyres. On my first trip out on my first, brand new leccy bike, the Slime hadn't arrived so I took my chances. Alas, two miles from home, I drove over a blackthorn twig and the thorn went straight into my front tyre. I broke off the twig, left the thorn in place and it held...

Do you think my bike can handle this journey?

It sounds ambitious to me. I have a 20kg bike with a 36V 8.8Ah battery and my limit is about 25 miles in hilly terrain. On the flat one low power it would probably manage about 45miles - and I'm only 53kg. 129 miles would be far beyond its limits. If you're able to cycle without power for...

Two pedelecers meet in the Wye Valley

How many forum members have met another member while out on the road...? Today, while stopping to take a pic, another cyclist stopped behind me, spotted my Ebike and recognised me from this forum. Great to meet you, Les! Here we are on Hoarwithy Bridge, Herefordshire overlooking the River...

sugestions for good quality warm beanie type hats please?

I wear one of these beneath my helmet: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Icebreaker-Pocket-Headwear-Copper-Gritstone/dp/B0721JTSJZ A helmet cover is also good in wet and windy weather.

This is why I bought an ebike

Looks good to me and is typical cycling in my area. An Ebike makes the impossible possible - and enjoyable!

    e bikes insured at home

Some insurers accept ebikes but many don't. It's a case of reading the smallprint on each policy to read their individual definitions.

Not a bad little electric bike for the price!

It looks good for the money, apart from the 24V 8Ah battery.

    Keeping your folded bike folded

My electric folder is too heavy to flap about but on my non-leccy folder a bungee cord does the job or a strip of self-gripping Velcro.

What are my rights with faulty e-bike?

The Sale of Goods Act should still apply regardless of how you paid for your purchase.

What are my rights with faulty e-bike?

If a product develops a fault within a week of purchase then it is assumed to be defective when sold which means you are entitled to a refund or replacement. After 28(?) days this can reduce to a free repair and after 6 months the onus will be on you to demonstrate it was faulty at the time of...

    Winter's coming

My view is that we only live once and we buy our bikes to use and enjoy rather than sit pretty and shiny in the house. I'm probably not the most sensible person to ask though having spent the morning riding back and to through a ford on my wobbly, non-electric lightweight folder.

    Power

Non-technical answer: Just multiply your 10 amp battery by the voltage. If 36V x 10amps then 360Wh battery.

Kitting up for the first time

I'm unfit and cycle about 30-40 miles per day but, with the exception of a hi-viz jacket, I haven't needed to buy any 'cycling clothing' and just wear normal gear. Because you're not going to arrive at work drenched in sweat, you may find you're ok wearing your normal clothing. E-bikes are...
