    House insurance and ebikes

RossG # 3 - "it could cost your home" - merely arbitrary???? No thanks.

Question about Walk Assist on Shimano Steps

Slightly off topic but my Shimano steps motor has had to be re-torqued twice in less than 2000 miles as it is coming loose in the cradle and also giving 3mm lateral / axial play at the crank. Do I go leaping like Leighping? Answer No. Do I ride up and down Coronation St cobbles? Answer No. Used...

Hi everyone, i'm new to electric bikes, hoping to purchase one in the next 1-2 weeks!

That price would put you in the Volt Pluse bracket. Superbly engineered bike. IMO.

Insurance Home content or specialist? Pros and Cons

Currently in the process of obtaining specialist cycle insurance which will cover two ebikes for a host of eventualities including public liability cover and breakdown / recovery as well as theft. Currently they are on home insurance but via advice from Chief of Roads Policing here (some of you...

    Throttle is a life saver

Since an industrial accident 27 years ago I can say that I am (almost) living proof of that sentiment. Secondly it was a shock to realise that I wasn't as indestructible as I thought I was.

The Reality of Owning and Maintaining a Pedelec

petition to increase the speed limit

Agreed. Again forgive me for being boring but may I remind (some of) you guys the nightmare for over 30 months we had with a government intent on labelling ebikes as mopeds. Give them half a chance and rock the boat if you dare.

petition to increase the speed limit

In the second section of my working life I was a Class One HGV driver hauling steel for 20 years all around the (now defunct) steel works of the UK. I covered on average 66,000 miles a year during that time and never "flattened anyone". I had and still have a clean licence despite my extensive...

petition to increase the speed limit

"flecc, I think you'd probably be surprised by the extent of the courtesy often shown to cyclists now." Have to wholehearted agree with this comment. Been cycling for 61 years now and I have seen a marked and distinctly noticeable difference in the amount of space and respect currently being...

petition to increase the speed limit

May I also add that a run through the nightmare we had here over 30 months with a half witted government seemingly determined to have e-bikes classed as mopeds with all the guff that would entail. We got out of it by the skin of our teeth. Give them half a chance to hammer us because of...

    Crank lateral play

I think it will be starting with a visit to the dealer. Depending on his reaction it will have to be some contact with Volt. With such a comparatively low mileage which was light leisure only by a pensioner I would prefer a replacement motor as opposed to repair.

    Crank lateral play

Pushing (and pulling) the crank arm from either side gives 3mm of movement. (play)

    Crank lateral play

georgehenry Confession time - riding motorbikes since the 60's with the occasional wash to remove oil leak stains. :( When power washing arrived I never used it because of possible water ingress to seals etc and certainly never on an e-bike, just a soapy cloth so I fear this is going to be a...

    Crank lateral play

Apologies - I understood lateral play to be side to side and that is what is happening to the crank(shaft). It is moving 3mm from side to side and with an accompanying "chattering" sound, letting the chainwheel touch the chainguard on occasions. My wife's bike (Pulse) has a rear hub motor and...

    Crank lateral play

My apologies if my question was misleading or unclear. I simply asked if anyone had any ideas regarding a recent side to side (lateral) play of 3mm with an accompanying "chattering" from the motor has recently developed.

    Crank lateral play

    Side to side.

    Crank lateral play

I have had an increasing audible "chattering" develop from the central motor on my Volt Infinity. There is also approx 3mm lateral play in the crank when I checked today. Anyone know if this is normal as I never felt the need to check lateral play before. Thanks Ted.

Volt Axis very good with a little bad.............

Hi Trek Just seen your post. We are also pensioners and bought two Volt bikes four years ago. Mine is an Infinity and Anne's is a Pulse. I have a background in auto engineering and I can say that I was very impressed with the bikes from the beginning regarding welding quality, general strength...
