    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

From our understanding the registration process to be introduced here will mean tax, insurance, licence Inc CBT, and a motorcycle helmet to the regulation standard. The e-bike would then be restricted to use on roads but not cycle lanes or towpaths. Because this law is still so "grey" and was...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

I think that the politics behind this is that the National Government are mightily p..........off with the NI government politicians. A great many innocent souls over here are also mightily cheesed off with this local governmental mob. The Westminster governments best option is to let NI stew...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Not during the Easter holidays I suspect as they are on holiday..........

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

I really am starting to lose patience now. The following is a reply to my extremely detailed 3 page letter outlining our desire here to be brought into line with the rest of the UK who don't have a registration process. What part of it did they not understand. How much clearer can I make it...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Have to agree with this sentiment. However several e-bikes have been seen quite recently with riders either oblivious to the "laws" or simply disregarding them. As I have said before we are just not prepared to take the risk, not so much because of possible police action, which would be...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

I accept my letter may have been a bit excessive but from the replies I was getting from those MP's who did actually reply, and to be fair there were quite a few but the responses suggested that they really and genuinely didn't seem to know the first thing about battery assisted pedal bicycles...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Excellent letter Damian. Confirms my belief that my 3 page monster, albeit crammed with detail was perhaps a bit long winded. Nevertheless hopefully all contact from those of us who are being tormented will have a positive effect. Many thanks. Take care, horrible day today for a bike.

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Fully agree Mike. Over here we need help from as many friends as possible. We are all in the same game with pedelecs so no matter where you are living please consider a letter to our Secretary of State on behalf of us in this little corner of the UK. I posted a monster highly detailed 3 page A4...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Hi Damian, interesting post and I am pleased that you are still mobile. I am 67 and have had an eventful life with many aspects of that life causing me to become somewhat pessimistic. A lifetime of 2, 4 and 18 wheels without incident but I am currently feeling my age and have slowed down...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Well done Mike. Really appreciate your efforts to help us with our plight here in this grossly unstable part of the UK. That is an excellent letter. Many thanks.

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Cheers Tommie, however I remember finding a similar email address for the previous SOS and it turned out to be the address of the constituency which he represented rather than the SOS position. Correct me as necessary. Thanks for your comments and support.

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

And another one - genuine and unaltered. I would appreciate it if others would join me in writing to the SOS as suggested because the issue is going to lose credibility if all the correspondence is simply from a couple of pensioners. Any help from forum members would be greatly appreciated...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

You'll have to trust me that this response last week is genuine and from high in Stormont so perhaps my persistence is finally getting through re parity with the rest of the UK. "Thank you for your recent correspondence by email regarding the legislative changes that are required to bring...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Ah there you are Tommie lad, still cycling and defying the laws of gravity and indeed the laws of this convoluted land. Good on you. I have had replies from Steven Agnew and indeed Sir Jeffrey who say similar things, but basically that their hands are tied regarding actually getting this...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Yes Egroover, this idea is floating around but the logistics of it is something of a problem. Conventional bicycles can be transported with relative ease on roof racks and boot racks but the weight of a decent e-bike will cause a problem or three in actually getting them from the four corners...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Hi folks, Just this day I was thinking about the forum and not wanting to believe that we are still grounded. I have had official letters from several high ranking MPs stating that they haven't forgotten about us. I have to believe them because unlike Damian we don't have the nerve to go out and...

    Government subsidize

Agreed, but in their absence vital issues are going unattended, some of them sadly well down the list but important to us who are grounded.

    Government subsidize

"You couldn't make it up" is actually a much overused phrase. We, of sound mind here are well used to despair in many situations but this "money for nothing" beggars belief.

    Government subsidize

Fair enough, I have not been keeping an eye on things here because it is a bit depressing knowing what you guys are still up to. Keep safe anyhow and be thankful.

    Government subsidize

I think I attached a report from the PSNI once a while back. He said exactly as you have said that they are to be treated as at least mopeds and an officer was to "use discretion". I have met quite a few who are blatant ignoring this threat of prosecution but I am not that confident especially...
