With winter on it's way I thought a thread for deals and gear might be useful
I'll kick off with a great 8 hour deal on lots of gloves and lights. The crab hand gloves at a tenner are great for any other deep winter commuters out there. The lights aren't bad either. I've bought similar rear...
From.web searches I think you
From online searches the bike you have has rim brakes, qr dropouts and cassette so you should be good but hopefully others can confirm
Be aware that batteries build from no name , generic cells tend not to last well. So worth anticipating a new battery within...
You are going to need to give us a lot more info
I've no idea what you are referring to, what the issue was, what "proper means" , what tests you have done if any. Etc
Gives us all the detail, it's where the devil and the solutions are :)
Not judgement from me but just info. A motor stamped 500w is illegal to use on uk roads as an ele tric pedal assisted bicycle.
You can buy them and them use them. Just not legally unless on private land. You are most unlikely to get caught or get in trouble unless you hit and injure someone...
Thanks very much all.
I think the ply approach seems more within my comfort zone for a first build !
But I do like the grp idea too
Hmmm. Need to start measuring and costing out
Great info though
Thanks cwah. I get this is a good quick and reliable fix. My bike is quite small and relatively clean looking and lightweight ( for an externally routed bbsxx conversions. )
I could just add such a strap to go under the bag and over the top tube. But it's another layer of hassle to remove for...
I have done around 8 or 9k miles on my bbso2 (actually a brighton ebikes 250w stamp high torque but same actual motor)
I did blow a controller by maxing it out and then being silly
I was able to source a cheap bbs01 controller and now use that with a slight tweak to settings. Been running...
I have a long and thin 36v 17.5ah pack of mj1 cells. It has kapton tape and heat shrink. It currently live in a 6 point velcro harness podsac tarp frame bag (with heavy duty foam placed at both end to protect cells from banging against frame)
This one...
You might find lipo options. But they come with some serious safety disadvantages and , theses days, don't have the energy density advantages they had a few years back. 18650 have really come along and lipo doesn't really make sense
Unless you have really specific needs such as tiny battery...
Those dd hubs do eat power. You'll need really good cells, spot welder , quality bms and quality AWG wire
It always seems to.me that what you savve on the kit being relatively cheap you lose more by the battery having to be very high spec (and therefore pricey) to work
It's not your fault ! Nor would it matter much what you posted . We seem to have, somehow, collected a part Donald Trump/part Russian AI disinformation machine as a poster .
I have blocked them so I don't even see their posts anymore. But it is clear the Trump has trumped all over this thread
A 500w bbs mid drive seems like a good solution for what you want.
You can easily play about with settings for assistance above 15mph
Depending on the gearing ratios you can climb a vertical cliff or get some serious speed
Choose some crossover tires. I like schwalbe smart Sam's. They have a...
Let's stop now before this becomes the Brexit thread!
But yep, could nt agree more. And I work with colleagues who are 50% ex police. Forced out one way or another due to relentless cuts
