Brompton conversion... would this Whoosh kit work?

Hi you lost me a bit here as it sounded like you want to keep the bpm on the mtb but remove the controller and battery to use on the brommie (with the nano motor) I think I must have this wrong as you then have an mtb with a useless lump of a motor Swapping controllers back and forth sn't...

    Lifespan of ownership

Without wishing to be needlessly difficult, this sort of supposition is a lawyers playground. By which I mean only that everything depends on the definition one uses for "convenience" or "range" or *comfort" etc So I'm quite sure VFR is right... Under his own definitions just a Woosh is...

How to get the best from your battery

Yes, in fact I make sure to do this every now and again to ensure a well balanced pack. No need at all to do this all this time. And certainly not best practice either. Just charge till full and occasionally leave it for overnight or for a extra few hours. That is it really for a battery that...

    Brompton forks

Ahh, you're very welcome! Thanks for coming back and letting us know. All too often advice is give and the OP vanishes into the Internet ether without a nice closure. Enjoy your bike :)

Hub or Mid Drive? Any views?

You are right there of course But i know where he is coming from. Most cheapo hub kits do seem to use cadence over torque? Certainly historically true but maybe it is less so as time progresses

18650 charger and also case recommends pls

Thanks SW. Yes I have the same case in 4 and 6 cell versions. I have a handful of 30q cells sitting unused and 3ah of 8.4V is enough for me 90% of the time. Was hoping to find a sleeker 2 cell cze but guess they dont make them

Hub or Mid Drive? Any views?

Intersting stuff David I can't help but think that the extra 500 quid makes a really big difference to most. That's a chunky old increase on 1700 (not saying its a bad price just that for many buyers it simply takes it out of range)

    Tsdz2 crank arms

They are square taper cranks so the shimano cranks are excellent for the money. Black or grey and with a larger q factor or straight Edit. - on for 16 quid a set right now! Much nicer than the ones that came with my BBS conversion and MUCH cheaper than lekkie buzz bars...

    Help me plan my conversion

I commuted for years with a front hub on flat roads. No issues at all. The biggest difference is in the feel of the bike. Front effectively gives 2wd, one via legs and one via motor

    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

This is unfair and untrue as you well know Like every forum there is the odd troll and those with an agenda However, this sweeping statement should be both retracted and apologised for. The vast majority are here for information and help from the experienced. To state what you did is clearly...

Picking the second bike is worse than the first

If you are keen for a new bike then I get that! But I'd go try some. Find a few shop suppliers near to you, give them a ring and visit for test ride. Woosh are a customer centric company. They would help you with. Issues and their bikes use pretty standard motors and systems. That's in no...

    Interesting Electric bike

No but it is possible the original rear motor failed and the person simply added a front motor system wired to the same battery rather than swap out the rear wheel. Maybe

    new to this

Honestly that isn't how it goes. 1000w ebay motors are usually direct drive, terrible on hills, designed for high speed, chew through batteries for starters (the single most expensive component) A geared 250w motor can often put out a consistent 700plus Watts anyway and will be better in just...

    Interesting Electric bike

The dropout extender modification thingy is intersting. Looks like it makes the dropout lower and forwards so that the chunky motor doesn't foul the forks? Never seen that before
