I'm not keen on £160 for a jacket Bob, like the sound of your Aldi boots. Remember I'm a tight Yorkshire man

Cube Touring Hybrid v Carrera Crossfire

I’m new to ebikes and cycling in general. My Cube has the CX motor and it’s amazing for getting up hills in turbo mode. Off road I can do a 45 degree incline in the saddle. You need to turn turbo off when setting of in first gear as you can spin the back wheel or wheelie. It also puts too much...

My commute is 7 miles each way, all down hill going to work and uphill all the way back, not quite, but near enough. I will only get chance a couple of days a week to ride my bike as I cover most of the UK. I’m determined to ride my bike when I can wet or dry. Nice to gain lots of post from...

I do have some Karrimor gear I bought cheaply from Sportsdirect. I have some breathable over trousers that seem to work but they are very baggy in the lower leg region. I have a Karrimor jacket that is fairly waterproof but busted the zips on the pockets the first time out on the bike. I need...

Did you customise your first purchase?

I changed mine but not that significantly. The two best things I did was to change the grips and head stock. Specialized Contour XC Grips and fitted an adjustable BBB head stem. Suddenly my bike feels bespoke, like it was made for me. I bought a cheap gel seat which has improved comfort, cant...

    E-Bike Insurance

I have mine insured for the full replacement value plus accessories £2.5k with my house insurance. I use a broker and asked her to find me the best deal. Extra £60 per annum but covers away from home as well. My building, contents and bike for £250. I think contents are £100k and building £1m...

    Wet weather gear.

It might be useful for newbies like me to have a general forum rather than having to post in technical. My question is, how do people keep dry on their way to work? My office has no changing facilities. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

I must add they were a bit of a battle to fit, you need 3 hands but I used a trap. Stiff bead and side walls. I expect the reflective band on the sidewalls will be good as the days shorten.

    Puncture avoidance

Been out on the trails, tracks and road, very wet today. The Marathons have a much lower rolling resistance than the Smart Sam's and great grip, wet and dry, on road and off road. I pumped them up harder today to 6 bar as I'm 110Kg and still great results. Highly recommended at £24 each.

What are the major factors that persuaded you to get an electric bike?

I’m fat, old, not very fit and wanted an introduction to excesize that I might enjoy. Mission accomplished, I might change my opinion during the winter.
