You did well to use eco for 90% of the ride. It also sounds a very comparable range assessment to what I would get over the same mileage and elevation gain. My knee joints are suffering at the moment, so I am using tour more than eco, but I would expect a similar ride in tour, to give a range of...

Not the best of photos from tonight's very muddy ride. It was certainly good to be out though, and the temperature just about perfect. Frustratingly tonight was the first ride of the week. :( Next outing will be heading out from Alfriston on Saturday morning. :)

    Casette will it fit?

I thought that you owned an eMTB? .

Fantastic. :) It has just been freezing cold, with fog and rain here. Even I opted out of riding today!

    Chain guard/bash board upgrade modification

Sadly a lot of the terrain here is like this when dry. And like this when wet. Look at the corrosion after leaving the bike for just a couple of hours. Get on the South Downs when wet, and things can be even worse, when the chalk and clay mix together. :( On the plus side of things, now...

Sadly so Gubbins. The conditions here are just so abrasive. :( This is an old set up after just such a mileage. Even the lower gears on the cassette have hooked up . New chain and old chain.

That is about all that I get out of any sprocket that I have ever used, and that is pushing it. I should have said that. :) I have quite a pile of old sprockets of varying makes and sizes. Connex are my preferred choice.

It certainly is weird and seemingly confusing that's for sure.

So every 500 miles or so you are expected to pay out £99.00 for a new sprocket! https://www.e-bikeshop.co.uk/Scott-E-Genius-Bosch-Sprocket I'd stick the bike on Ebay tomorrow if I were you.

    Rohloff/gearbox question/s!

Nice idea, and I do happen to know of two frame builders that could probably quite easily alter the rear drop outs to suit, but I like the simplicity of a through axle. :) I'm quite happy just to squirrel the bike away for now until something suitable comes along. :)

    Rohloff/gearbox question/s!

I'd need to buy another fame first. I went for a quick ride on it yesterday afternoon, and yep, it was miles too small for me. I have to say though, that it was seamlessly smooth and nice to ride though.

    SRAM eMTB specific drivetrain launched

That is something that I like about the Sunrace Shimano compatible cassette. No holes in the side to clog with dirt and debris, and cleaning is a doddle. :)

Brexit, actually the UK has come out rather well.

@Gubbins. That isn't bickering, it is simply pointing out excluded fact.

And yet in this post http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/oxygen-s-cross-st-vs-momentum-model-t.26708/#post-353738 you wrongly chose to leave out the legal implications, when knowing full well what they are. I can only assume that you did just the same to the three people that you also gave...

    SRAM eMTB specific drivetrain launched

I realise that we all have preferences in relation to which system to use, but like you Steve, I really rate the Shimano XT range. Interestingly though, I have another bike lined up, which uses the SRAM set up, and had been debating whether to remove it and sell on, in favour of fitting XT/XTR...

    Rohloff/gearbox question/s!

I hadn't realised that time had passed by this much. I never followed up on the Thorn, but recently received a call from the client that owned it, asking if I could draw up some retrospective plans for him. I agreed, and when I went to deliver them, he asked if I wanted the bike as it was...

One point of note with this. You are using a dongle, your average ride speed is 20mph over a 27mile ride, and it was highly likely that the motorist wasn't anticipating a cyclist to be traveling at a speed that would have perhaps been faster than expected. Even on my bike which is 'legal'...

There are some really nice back lanes to be found from the edge of Hailsham, leading to Pevensey marshes and beyond. I sometimes ride the pedal mtb off road from Crowborough to Hailsham/Polegate to see my sister, then go out for a further ride from there. Being relatively flat, it enables me to...
