Carrera crosscity E power on issue

@vfr400: Had a quick look, can't find the video... but it's there somewhere. Pretty sure it was a Tranzx BL03 rack battery - common on German Winora and Hercules bikes, big manufacturer selling only in mainland Europe. Pretty sure the youtube video was linked to a thread from one of the other...

Carrera crosscity E power on issue

It was a while ago, but I'll see if I can find it again and post if I do. It was a rack battery IIRC. Many smart BMS's (Bosch, Phylion etc) have chips that store number of charges, state of health etc for dealer reading... maybe this logged the fact that the battery was below voltage and...

Carrera crosscity E power on issue

This is a left-field thought... I watched a youtube video of a guy recelling an ebike battery some while ago. It wasn't a mainstream brand (like Bosch, Yamaha, Shimano etc), but nevertheless, quite a common one found in Europe. Like your battery, the voltage had fallen to a level too low to...

How Does a BMS REALLY Work? As it seems that many here apparently do not know exactly!

That's a very misleading statement. Not all BMS's use comms, but very, very many do - notably those batteries fitted with multi-pin charger plugs. For these e-bike systems, the BMS exerts some control over how the charger functions. Here's how Halfords Carrera (Phylion) bike battery BMS's talk...

    New to ebikes

The controller has to squeeze into the frame - a direct replacement might be best? AFAIK, there is no official UK Apollo representation; Westhill are/were the main importer of this model of Apollo bike. Unless Westhill changed/modified parts for their version, they will likely sell the parts you...

    Kalkhoff charger output

Both my own ebikes' chargers (both different mid-motor systems) behave in this way: The charger applies a pulse and is looking for a response from the battery BMS before starting to charge. Other threads on this forum relating to Kalkhoff charging suggest it'll be similar for you. Again, one of...

    New to ebikes

I remember some entrepreneurial guy in Birmingham selling a container or two of these ebikes (paint/decals factory branded by the maker Apollo as the Mars M3 - exactly as your image) for about £800 on ebay back in the day. But the majority were imported and branded as Westhill Ghost - selling...

    introducing the Woosh Grand Camino

Given your choice of beefing up the motor, brakes, and axles for the "heavier" rider, my concern would be the vulnerability of the seat-post tube. You know your market better than any of us, but surely that amount of tube extension is subject to higher stress/splitting (especially if an...

    Battery question - Pendleton Somerby

The batteries are/were made by Phylion, but that may have changed recently. The Phylion protocol was: A quick press shows the state of charge: how much energy is in the battery A 10 sec press showed the state of health: how aged/capable the cells were holding charge A 30 second press put the...

    Halfords/Spare Batteries.

Maybe I'm just at odds with the majority here, or maybe I'm just lucky to have a good Halfords. The manager is probably underpaid, but he's certainly both enthusiastic and knowledgeable, will often spend time idly chatting about bikes/trends and what's going on/new products coming along. I like...

Bosch Performance Line CX motor sounds like a loud milk float. Is it normal?

Maybe it's just the Germans that don't take quality seriously then. Here's a Bafang Factory Tour video: They have 6 motor production lines, one of which is producing 34,000 motors a month. There's component level checking before assembly into the motor, the sub-assemblies are then quality...

    Ebco UCR:10

I think vfr400 is right: Your bike model seems to be from around 2016, which likely pre-dates the CANbus era. Does (did) your display look like this (It's the display shown in a review of your UCR10 bike)? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRANZX-Display-I2C-AA504008192-Fahrrad-/192346283493

    Ebco UCR:10

I think your best course of action would be to contact Ebco themselves (ebco.co.uk), or your local Ebco dealer. The issue you face is that TranzX CANbus systems are linked: You'll need a new display, and that display needs to be "paired" so that it communicates with the controller and motor. You...

Bosch Performance Line CX motor sounds like a loud milk float. Is it normal?

Bosch obviously think so. They don't send out new £800 motors for a laugh. Crap. I taught Quality Management for a while in the 1980's. If your bike had failed after a period of time, that might be understandable. From what you say here, yours seems (in your own opinion, which Bosch are now...

    Halfords/Spare Batteries.

Both of those are the older Phylion SF-06 batteries. You have to ask yourself why both those sellers would be selling them in "used" condition... perhaps because their own bikes were stolen? The OP is seeking the new version, which is different.

Bosch Performance Line CX motor sounds like a loud milk float. Is it normal?

Eh? I don't understand your appreciation or logic... A big thumbs up to both a manufacturer and a dealer for selling and sending out a bike that was defective as new? I'd have to say I experienced a similar kind of sloppy manufacturing/quality control when I bought a brand new Mercedes. It just...

    New Wisper 905 torque problem

Your weight and/or lack of fitness has nothing to do with it (many here share similar issues)... there is a problem with the bike and probably a simple one. If David/Wisper sees this thread he will respond, but you really need to call the supplying dealer and/or Wisper straight away for the help...

    Halfords/Spare Batteries.

There were a number of the older versions being sold cheaply on Yosepower recently - possibly stock being cleared. The newer battery version is - AFAIK - also used on some current Raleigh model e-bikes. If Halfords can't help, you might want to ask at any Raleigh e-bike dealer.

    Battery problem

High current being drawn through a poor/bad/corroded electrical contact creates heat that melts the plastic.
