    Riding in the Rain

I ride my bike to work and back, and have just completed five days too and fro and 150 miles in total. My bike lives in a garage at home and in a dry room at work but if it rains during the journey it gets wet and I have had no problems with the electrics. I do check the weather before each...

    Are battery covers worth it?

Agreed, but I like the two combined.

    Are battery covers worth it?

My battery cover silenced any rattling noises my battery made in its cradle, the squidgy material seeming to help to hold the battery gently but firmly in place where it was squeezed against the frame. Whether the extra insulation does any good I am not sure.

    Winora Radius Plain

For London you might want to consider a proper folder so that you can take it onto trains etc.

I fell off my bike, over a bridge, into a ditch. :)

I traverse a wooden bridge on my route to work and wet muddy boards need to be treated with much respect.

    Yamaha 500w battery 2017

Is it not beyond the ingenuity of man (ebay battery supply man) to find a way to refurbish the Yamaha and Bosch batteries. Surely they cannot be that protected from tampering for a professional to find a way of doing so. Surely the batteries inside cannot be that different. With the high price...

    Cycle Commute below zero?

I could not get today off so topped the battery up and set off to work for one shift before having another two days off. The temperature on my Yamaha LCD display was showing 2 degrees, but the sun was shining and I did not feel cold. I took the camera so I could take a few pictures on the way...

    Cycle Commute below zero?

Happy Xmas all you Winter commuters. I had a pattern of four shifts to do from Monday 19th, finishing on Thursday 22nd of December before my Xmas break, with the start times all in the afternoon. That meant four splendid 16 mile off road trips to work with 10 mile on road return trips...

    Falling off....

I had not fallen off for a while, obviously getting complaisant, doing a downhill single track on the way to work a couple of weeks ago with a central gully full of leaves that I had strayed into and thought I would pop out of, however the leaves were camouflaging the severity of the lip out...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

I am not sure if 1250 miles for a chain and cassette used a lot off road and then pounded 10 miles home mostly in eco in high gears 8/9, is bad or not. Obviously I would like it to last longer. It is always the 12 tooth top gear and occasionally 14 tooth gear 8 that start to show signs of wear...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

I am on a train with 15 mins of free wi fi so will have to reply another time. I am using a 42 tooth chain ring and cheap shimano cassettes (see above) with 12 tooth top gear and 14 tooth gear 8. I use eco a lot and travel mostly in gear 8 at 19 ish mph. this set up lasted 1250 miles last time...

    lots of hate out there

Being of a certain age I remember when punk rock first hit the scene and the radio 1 jocks of the day (with the honorable exception of John Peel who always played the most obscure s--t he could get his hands on), said that it would never catch on and they would never play it.......... The rest...

Recommend me a new front light

I use a Moon Meteor Front light and have a spar on the handlebars just in case of failure but have not had to use the spar in 21 months of commuting. I use it for a 10 mile unlit B road commute. I like how small, light and self contained they are and can be easily slipped into a pocket. They...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Well I treated my bike to a new cassette, chain and rear mech today. The rear mech had been bent but working for a while but I thought it was time for a new one to aid crisp and reliable gear selection. For the record the previous cassette and chain had lasted 1246 miles since the 28th of...

    Riese & Muller Delite 2

Hi Croxden, I don't know how but the Reise and Muller bikes somehow passed me by in March 2015 when I was looking for an electric mountain bike for my 20/26 mile round trip to work that can include 16 miles of cross country, and a need to carry stuff, and a preference for it to be carried in my...

    Best bike for least peddling

I have also found the throttle on my Oxygen useful in ways I had not thought of when I bought it. As above if the chain jams or comes off it still provides forward movement to allow you to choose a safe place to stop and sort out the problem. If you cannot solve the problem it will help to get...

    Best bike for least peddling

Hi Andy88, i have just stumbled across this thread, and for some reason looked on the 50 cycles second hand bike sales section earlier today and they have an Oxygen Emate City from the throttle era for sale apparently little used for I think £450. I own a Oxygen Emate City that I bought from...

    Cycle Commute below zero?

I do a 20 mile round trip to work and keep going through the Winter, and use Schwalb Smart Sam Tyres with slime filled tubes on my hard tail electric mountain bike. I use an off road route to work for my late shifts, returning on the road and have not found the roads too slippy to use and keep...

Autumnal Surrey in and around "The Devil's Punch bowl" in Surrey. EddiePJ if you see this post, I remember you recommended a digital camera you use once, could you remind me which one it was and why you like it. Mine is at the bargain basement end of the scale and it might be...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Miles now 4984 I am just about to hit 5000 miles. The rear cassette is now at 1044 miles after being replaced on the 28th of June 16. I did get a little hint of top gear wear for the first time, on my Monday night return trip from work so it may be getting close to time to change it, but it...
