    Choosing a battery for Tongsheng 48v 750w

@Lee5005 It is a personal choice, you need to consider what sort of terrain you will be riding on, if you need full shock absorbers on the route you take. If you have any medical conditions that require special modifications. For instance, I had a mad moslem woman belt into me while I was...

    Choosing a battery for Tongsheng 48v 750w

You said you are a larger person, so will need some torque to get going. I find as I get older I use my throttle for starting more and more unless down an incline. A snappy start from lights on the road is also a much safer start than a slow drag away with boy (and girl) racers chafing at...

    Swytch on the beach

OK go do what I did, whole thing less than £1000. I went to my local charity bike shop (hope to cycle) and went through their donated bike stock in the back shed looking for a good one for conversion. I picked the lightest one, a specialized crossroads, not too fancy but really light. The...

    Choosing a battery for Tongsheng 48v 750w

When I collided with a lamp post after a cat ran across my path in a small cycle track at about 10mph, that is when I realized 15mph is plenty for me. The lamp post came off considerably better than I, it was not even scratched. Took me 8 hours in casualty, no broken bones but lots of...

    Swytch on the beach

It's only a bike-get a sense of proportion guys. If like me you love a ride along the prom just do it and get another bike if it gets too rusty. It really isn't such a big deal.

    NOT Charging

Not much point checking the voltage with a meter unless you have the motor working at the same time. You need to check the voltage with the motor stopped then with the motor working. That will give you a true indication of the state of the battery. I would imagine a 24volt battery to read...

    Swytch on the beach

Spoilsport-I love my ambles along the prom in Bournemouth and Poole, I can cycle from the Black House Christchurch on the Mudeford spit at Hengistbury Head along the prom in Bournemouth all the way to Sandbanks, it's about 4-5 miles. Really lovely cycle ride but I hate to think what it's doing...

    Locks

@GSV3MiaC It's an interesting point you raise with regard to emotional attachment to your bike. As a young man I loved my cars and would never let anyone drive them except the lovely Jane of course-I dared not try and stop her! When I grew older I came to the unconscious realization that a...

    Don't forget your helmet

I can't believe this ridiculous thread is still going. Just leave these helmet zealots to themselves, don't reply to them it just encourages their crass stupidity.

    Adding a Torque sensor

I can't remember now, it's been 3-4 years since the Sunbear and 2 1/2 since the Freego. Blimey, I have trouble remembering what I had for dinner last night let alone what adjustments I made to a piece of software 4 years ago! I've not been on here for over a year due to family issues. I do...

    Adding a Torque sensor

I'm an electronics engineer. I know about these things. I ran a PC repair business and software tuition company for the Wanneroo shire (as was - now a city) in the early 2000's. My background is as an engineer fault-finding down to component level. I went back to 3 years full-time learning...

You have your opinion, it doesn't tally with my experience.

    Adding a Torque sensor

The bikes I tried were all UK made and supplied. A Sunbear step-through and a Freego Eagle, not cheap Chinese imports. I still much prefer the torque sensor ride, it is far more natural. Maybe it doesn't suit everyone, that's ok we are all different.

    Adding a Torque sensor

Since getting on my bike again now back in the UK I have tried both front hub and rear hub cadence bikes. The rear hub was more natural, although both bikes felt more like a powered small motorbike than a bicycle. Whoosh supplied a torque-sensor Tongsheng Mid-drive TSDZ2 kit that I fitted to a...

Why so few hub geared bikes with belts ? Looking at Kalkhoff

    Don't forget your helmet

No you are being obtuse. I have never said they do not save lives, minuscule proportion though it may be, every life is precious. I just object to being forced to wear one against my will, I do not see the need in the manner in which I ride, just like Flecc. You evangelists just don't get it...

    Don't forget your helmet

Why would you ask for a link to prove something that there can obviously be none? Are you deliberately being obtuse? I don't care what you asked for that is a nonsense request - why should I accede to that nonsense. No politician's trick, it's you who is deliberately being patently...

2 years on with the TSDZ2....

No I don't. Unfortunately the chap who runs the charity cycle shop "Hope to Cycle" (where I bought the reconditioned bike)has just had an operation on his hand and the shop will be shut for 6 weeks. I will pull it off and maybe take it to another bike shop see what they have to say about it.
