GPS Tracker for £2 a month

@gsm.terra tried one of those back in post #28 (here) and Ali Express sell the GF-07 GPS for well under £10 shipped. At that price you have to wonder at its reliability. However, stick one of those under your saddle and an 'informed' thief may spot it, detach it and throw it away then leg it...

GPS Tracker for £2 a month

Thanks for that @guerney but I've found the manual on line (it's here if anyone else wants a peek?). There's a lot of functionality there for the price. I see it requires a GSM/GPRS cellular network which in laymens terms is 2G or 3G - I don't know if all UK SIMs provide that as 2G/3G is to be...

GPS Tracker for £2 a month

Well, that's what I call great customer service from Wisper Bikes:D Anyway - @guerney - I think the tracker/light combo you talk about has merits and I like the 'movement detection' option - how sensitive is it? Once I've evaluated the Voda Curve I might well look into the light/tracker for...

GPS Tracker for £2 a month

I've just ordered a Vodafone Curve too - currently £15 on their website (wow, just found it on an even special offer for existing vodafone customer at £9.99 here - a 2nd curve for a fiver too valid until 31May22 - drat!) but the monthly subscription has gone up to £2.99 (the average price of a...

    Towball

I can't give you a direct answer but iirc when I used to fit my Thule rack to the towbar ball, I never had to think about levelling the bike rack, it just was. So maybe your observation about the ball is the cause then? PS - I no longer have a towbar to compare with.

    Kona Ute tsdz2 conversion

Hi @potato I've just reviewed how I did the sprag clutch work/inspection (as per how the guy did it in this youtube clip here) and the dis-assembly is on the drive side of the motor so my earlier comment about having crank binding on the NDS after re-assembly is incorrect - my crank binding...

    Kona Ute tsdz2 conversion

Clearly @potato you are having some issues with your TSDZ2 :( Your observations got me curious as to what my axle tapered ends looked like so I took the TSDZ2 crank arms of my wife's conversion (I've removed them several times as I've moved the motor between three different bikes). As per your...

    My Cargo bike build.

Nice one @Nealh - I've been waiting to see how the build goes since you first mentioned it. Your observations of the TSDZ2 will I know, be credible observations rather than some of the flimflammery that abounds in some quarters. Will you be venturing into the realms of Open Source Firmware...

    Side Stand needed.

I have for many years used aPletscher Multi Zoom Rear Kickstand on my touring and town bikes and have fitted them to a good number of my friend's bikes too. Current around £25 from Amazon. There's a video here showing it in action. Although my bike in the pic is lightly loaded, I've toured...

    Kona Ute tsdz2 conversion

When I did my first TSDZ2 conversion (on my own bike) I tightened the cranks by hand to what I considered as tight enough but as experienced by others, they still periodically required re-tightening. One recommendation was to try Bafang cranks which I did but they loosened up after a while too...

% of battery power left to use.

I look forward to reading about your observations. I've spent quite a bit of time trying to work out voltage versus power available - so far all I know for sure is that running in (BMS) bypass mode I get more range out of my battery which for my cheap Chinese 10Ah bottle battery is around 40-45...

% of battery power left to use.

That's an interesting table - do you know what make battery the table refers to as 18650 cells can have quite different discharge curves? The other factor to weave in is the BMS cutoff voltage which could see you not being able to go lower than around 32v (for 10s).

Bosch takes the L on right to repair for ebikes

Plenty of people get stuck between a rock and a hard place in that if they want an ebike then: > going the kit route is cheap but requires a level of knowledge to fit and to keep going if problems develop, but the knowledge is 'out there' along with spare parts etc. or if purchased from someone...

Using UK 13amp plug appliance wire to connect controller to battery?

A UK 13A plug can be fitted with different sized flex/cable depending on what it was being used for and the fuses to go in the plug top range from 3A to 13A so before one can even consider the suitability of the flex you've recoverd, you need to know the size of it is - what was it used for - a...

    Battery Care over Winter

Ha ha, there's nothing better than keeping things simple - it get's my vote for sure. However, although not an essential, I'm an inveterate tinkerer and couldn't resist the discharging gizzmo as I'd like to measure my Amp Hours as of now and maybe over time to see how (my cheap) battery is...

    Battery Care over Winter

Hi @Ray Winder - I agree that the halogen lamps are a better idea rather than the concentrated heat from the power resistor. If I can find a source of resonably priced 12v halogen lamps, I shall probably go that way. I might pop to my local car scrappy and get some car headlamp bulbs  .

    Battery Care over Winter

Thanks to @Ray Winder and @cyclebuddy for sharing their ideas on the battery discharger gizzmo and I've now 'knocked up' one for myself. Here's some aditional details that might be useful to others and encourage greater takeup. A basic schematic showing connectivity from the battery through...

Help! Which is the correct charger

Both chargers then, will charge the OP's battery - one at 3A max, the other at 2A max. So if you had to choose just one of them, which would you go for given that the 3A one will charge faster but on the other hand there is a generally held view that a slower charge rate will increase the total...

That's a good laugh, that one....(or at least it should be)
