e-bike article in Saturday's Telegraph with comments. The good the bad and the ugly!

As for me, I've found larger capacity motorbikes easier to ride, the ones with lots of low end torque, and not the silly top end speed. Hardly have to change gear on my 96BHP 1200cc modern twin bike. It can't do 180 MPH , probably more like 130 , on a very long private runway, eventually ! But...

e-bike article in Saturday's Telegraph with comments. The good the bad and the ugly!

For a period, I loaded the bike in the car, and drove a to car-free place (itself a contradiction) so I could bike for few hours; with the years it lost meaning, so I sold the bike, which had the best Shimano gear on it. JP 8 DAYS AGO Ebikes are great fun. Once you're over 15mph your doing...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Caught out by the Rail replacement bus service Noticing the weather was going to be bad today I charged up the battery of my Haibike Yamaha yesterday and took it for a mostly off road ride, just for fun and exercise in yesterdays sunny weather. I checked the train times for getting back home...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

My Haibike Yamaha is 2015, so I have had longer to accumulate miles. I bought it as a commuting bike to get me to work and back, usually a 24 mile round trip, and ridden in that way a bike quickly adds miles. I may end up with a 36 tooth chain ring like you, but I think I will try a 38 first...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Hi soundwave, its a difficult one to work out when to get this second motor overhauled. It is currently quiet and there is no play when you flex the pedal arms. The weather is hopefully improving and a prime time to enjoy riding the bike. I am inclined to do it at the end of the year, but...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Signs of Spring in the balmy South I enjoyed a very nice 20 mile sunny ride on Wednesday but was quite shocked at how warm it was. My Yamaha display shows the temperature and it peaked at 17 degrees and mostly showed 15 degrees. I had put a long sleeved thermal top under a wind proof...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

15.000 Miles. Now ridden for leisure and fitness I broke through the 15,000 mile barrier on Monday the 7th of February 2022. A lovely sunny blustery ride of 20 miles. After not riding her that much after my retirement in October 2021, I have started doing so again. I ride my cross country...

    Volt 4 Year Battery

Just to add my own two penny worth. The 400Wh battery on my 2015 Haibike Yamaha will be seven years old in March and still works a treat with no issues after 14.978 miles ridden. Good job as it will cost an arm and a leg if I were to buy an Yamaha replacement when it needs changing. (In April...

    Old Nag

Old Nag to the rescue.... Enjoying my retirement I had agreed to go to a friends house today to meet up with two more friends and go for a walk. I usually take the car and according to google maps it is a 15 mile journey to my friends house. As we had agreed to meet at 10:30 and the weather...

Not a great start with e-bikes. Chain continually jumps off the front sprocket.

As your problem seems intermittent, I would put a narrow wide chain ring on the front, as for me this completely stopped my chain getting dropped off. Narrow wide chain rings are also more substantial and longer wearing.

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Finding a reason to ride….. Following my retirement and some pretty dull Winter Weather, The Haibike has not been ridden as much as it was when it was my means of getting to work and back. However with a few colder but sunnier days and a basic need by my body to be more active I have done...

Rear lights: which is best, continuous or flashing?

I got cut up today leaving a roundabout by an impatient old couple behind me in of all things a Cherolet Matiz . I shouted my displeasure but they were oblivious. She was close to me at the start of the overtake choosing to make the overtake as we were both leaving the roundabout and then came...

Rear lights: which is best, continuous or flashing?

I noticed immediately that cars took more care passing me after I added a bright flashing rear light to my seat post.

    Unavoidable Bicycle Badger Collision

I did not know him too well and not long into working for the company he managed to get himself sacked. Those who worked in the same depot said that he was not adverse pulling a sick day. I heard about the badger incident from people in the depot that thought it was probably an excuse for taking...

    Unavoidable Bicycle Badger Collision

Until recently when I retired I rode to work cross country and 10 miles home on the road late at night on my hard tail Yamaha Haibike. I now realise that I was lucky not to collide with a badger. I had a few near misses. From my experience they shoot out from the side of the road and run...

    backache

I have used a very good osteopath/ sports injury specialist over the years after first going to him with a football injury following a recommendation. Help! I am 17stone 6ft 4inch

I am sadly over 17 and a half stone at the moment and rode my bike yesterday for a leisure ride that turned out to be 28 miles when I got home. I have a crank drive Yamaha Haibike of 2015 vintage with an original 400Wh battery. The bike has now completed 14,470 miles. It was a very mixed ride...

    alba ebike log

I have a 2011 rear hub bike that came with fitted lights that ran of the battery, which are very useful, but more to be seen by than to see with. I still put mine on, but augment them with the excellent rechargeable lights that you can get now, and are very reasonable, a bright flashing rear...
