    Swytch Battery Questions

I've declared the battery pack scrap. For my own amusement I've cut away the BMS from the cell pack and in due course I'll find a use for the 5 good cells and out of curiosity I'll play around with one of the others to see what it's like after a 'recovery' but it'll not go anywhere near an...

    Swytch Battery Questions

Thanks for the input @saneagle - I incorrectly said 'measured at the BMS' - I actually measured the voltage at the ends of the cell pack at the points marked 'X' in the last picture above. Anyway, since then I've managed to probe through the mastic blobs (heck, that stuff really bonds and is...

    Swytch Battery Questions

Getting the battery pack apart: Removing the rubber casing: The casing is a very tight fit - I used thin 1" palette knives to prise the casing off. I started by prising the rubber away from the centre of the long edge working intially from 'inside' the connector void and then the top edge, as...

    Swytch Battery Questions

I'm leaving further work until tomorrow as the 'man shed' is too hot for concentration, or at least the level of concentration required for battery fettling. I have the cell pack clear of the case and once I remove some of the white mastic, I should be able to measure individual cells. The...

    Swytch Battery Questions

Well, I've got the battery apart - the rubber cover will prise off which leaves you with a hard plastic two-part case (one part yellow, the other grey) which is held together by 10 small screws. Getting the case apart requires some fairly determined prising again and working your way around the...

    Swytch Battery Questions

A friend with a Swytch Bike made the fatal mistake of not charging the battery over the winter and now it won't charge up and pressing the battery level button doesn't illuminate any LEDs He has asked for my help - I'm no novice with ebike batteries having built three of my own, but this is my...

    Clothing complaint

@Saracen - saneagle is just having a bit of fun because you said you were getting a new wardrobe, as in another piece of furniture, NOT as what you meant as in a new suite of clothes . The ambiguities possible with the English language always bring a smile to my face.

    Long time rider. Newbie pedalec.

A pedantic point I know but an important one - the wording is 'maximum CONTINUOUS rated power.' Peak power isn't mentioned and as has lready been mentioned, peak power can quite legally be much more than this. EN 15194 para 4.2.14 for a read that works better than Mogadon.......

    Remove speed limiter

It's good to see all those forum members advertising on here about their de-restricted ebikes which will make it far easier for the thought police to find them come the day of reconning :D:D:D. On the other hand, the law may change and suddenly all will be sensible and fine ....... hah...

    Questions on a new conversion

Some on here have said bags are not good - that however, has not been my experience and I note that @Woosh bikes are happy enough to now sell bag batteries. Where ever the battery goes and what in, think how protected from impact and vibration during riding it will be? Battery cells in a metal...

Lightweight ebikes that can still do steep hills and ride like a regular bike on the flat

....... and somewhere for the controller and the hub motor/controller power delivery characteristics will not match those of the torque sensing of the TSDZ2 obviously enjoyed by @Bogmonster666 although a KT controller will go some way to mask the lack of torque sensing.

Lightweight ebikes that can still do steep hills and ride like a regular bike on the flat

Clearly bike aesthetics are a factor for you on this one so I understand the 'carbuncle' term re the TSDZ2. Like you, I love the TSDZ2 (I have two bikes with them) as these motors allow me to put effort in, considerable or otherwise, when pedalling. One my bikes is an old school/late 90s...

Ride through Telford Town park and Race with Crank-drive Bike

Telford looks nice and what cracking weather. I cycled through Telford 12 years ago on my LeJog trip - the city planners have been busy since then. The other guy's bike looks to be a proprietary system given the in-frame battery and so the crank drive motor is something like a...

Woosh starts shipping Tongsheng TSDZ8 with 250W label

Thanks for the points raised above @Az. VLCD5 - ugly yes - was there a choice of other displays at time of purchase? TSDZ8 very powerful - presumably the power output of the motor is determined to some extent by the assist level settings, no? Or are you saying that at the highest assist level...

    Disappointed with a Pendleton e-bike

If unable to clear the debris in the brake blocks I would recommend changing them as although decent rims can be had for around £30, the cost of a wheel build far outweighs that of new blocks. And on the subject of worn rims, there is an excellent article in the Cycling UK forum by 'Brucey'...

    Traffic noise while riding.

'Tongue in cheek' I know @thelarkbox - must vehicles are of course steel boxes which is why some drivers don't give a hoot how they driver - me on my bike is just flesh and bone and I do my best to keep it all in one piece .

Lol - but you are taking an active role in understanding your own 'medical self' and being pro-active in getting problems addressed. So many people done care about their health and just expect the NHS to resolve issues when they come along.

    Traffic noise while riding.

I really can't agree with that point of view. Yes, for some scenarios it's a case of 'what will be will be' but let me give you an example of knowing (through hearing) what's happening behind you can reduce the risk of an accident: You're riding along a country lane/quiet road. A car approaches...

@saneagle I understand your reluctance regarding blood thinners - as a sufferer of afib (last 5 years hence my adoption of an ebike or two) I take blood thinners and you're right, getting a cut can be messy. Last year's double fracture of the pelvis saw a worryingly large internal bleed and my...
