£20 THING!, Upgrades. Battery, Bulbs, Locks etc..

With the spaghetti of wires and the controller tucked away in the floor it was hard to see what wires were connected to what. With them spread out and traced along the floor i spotted 2 black plugs with a single blue wire on each. Plugged them in and the throttle works without* pedalling...

    Lithium batteries on ebay

I will weigh it when i start assembling. But the plan is to ditch the SLA's as soon as i know how far the Zippy packs will take me and as soon as i know that its all in working order on a decent run. We only took it around the block a few times before i stripped it to paint it. Perfectly flat...

    Battery and charger

With the 5s packs i plan to charge one at a time or get another charger and use one for each. You can charge the whole lot in one go with a suitable charger, Plenty of scooter chargers that are suitable for lithium batteries.

    Battery and charger

I bought a pair of 5s (18 volt) 4000mAh Zippy packs from HobbyKing last week. Approx £50 for the 2 packs giving 36 volts and aAh. From reading info on here and elsewhere it seems the 4Ah wont be far below the 3 x 12v 10Ah SLA batteries currently fitted. Seems you only get approx half the...

I went for the HobbyKing Zippy packs. A pair of 5s 4Ah packs to start me off. I think it was just under £50 with delivery.

    Lithium batteries on ebay

Possible some sellers have packs with just 3 batteries in to save more money. Feedback on Ebay said the pack was under 2Ah.

    Lithium batteries on ebay

I assume 3 to give 12.6 volts. I had to click the HD button to be able to read the writing on the battery he took out. There are a few russian video's regarding other batteries with a similar rating. Turns out they all seem to be 2000mAh nowhere near the 9800mAh they claim to be. They also...

Reliable bike carrier for Volt Pulse

What car? Personally i hate the rear hatch mounted carriers. Plastic slips and straps are just a recipe for disaster in my mind. The only way i would carry it would be on the roof or on a towbar mounted carrier.

    Lithium batteries on ebay

There is a clip on youtube showing the insides of one of those packs. What your basically getting are phone batteries that are 2100mAh max. 7 Wh. The wiring to the switch inside wont take much current either,

    Slow oncoming cyclists

Can I read that as meaning you have to slow the cycles down? If a cyclist is coming towards me I should slow them? But only oncoming ones?

    Brakes, What a minefield.

My £20 thing is still a work in progress, Slowly coming along. The rain keeps putting a damper on the painting. Parts on order to help putting it back together. But ebay sellers are holding me up also. 5 days after purchase they contact me and tell me they dont have the item i bought. 5...

Is this power supply suitable for my Charger?

Seems to be a 12A maximum? The charger says 11 - 15 volts and 250 watts input power. At 12 volts thats 20 amps, At 15 volts its 16.6 amps, Both over the max of the PSU in your picture. You maybe able to use it with restricted charge rates though.

Probably yet another battery thread Q?. To bore you :)

Sellers seem to miss the obvious and do not put dimensions in the info. Some appear to be super skinny for thin walled racing bikes. I chose some short thick looking ones and some longer type that come with a holder. The current blocks are like plastic. Rock hard, And i can see slithers of...

Probably yet another battery thread Q?. To bore you :)

Yeah, That was my plan. Just wirewool them. It may not be a speed machine, But i would like it to stop sooner rather than later. The wheels actually look painted. Will double check tomorrow. Just curious is there is anything to protect the rim, Bearing in mind that area is used for the...

Probably yet another battery thread Q?. To bore you :)

Thanks for the tips, The packs i bought are only 4Ah, £15 less than the 5Ah packs. Should make it more affordable to jump upto 8Ah if everything goes to plan. From what i have read the 8Ah ones will give more power and a longer run than the SLA 10Ah cells. Probably still a 1/3rd of the weight...

Probably yet another battery thread Q?. To bore you :)

Going with the 5s packs. Cannot be bothered to mess with the 10s ones if they come with only one a + & - leads and not 2 packs as one. They need to make the item info clearer. £15 extra going from 4000 mAh to 5000 mAh.. Argghhhh my head hurts.. If i bought enough for 20Ah. The 4000 would...

Probably yet another battery thread Q?. To bore you :)

Just spotted that some 10s packs are actually 2 x 5s packs in one case. Are they all like that? The HK website doesnt explain very well. Only found that by one comment by a customer. Would there be any advantage by going to a 25C or 30C over a 20C? Considering the bike i have is an old thing...
