    Bike Forks?

Nice one Eddie. Bloody Suntour - awful forks. Best place for them is the scrap metal bin!

    Bike Forks?

Rockshox steerers are definitely press fitted. The longest uncut steerer tube lengths I have found seem to be 265mm - this appears to be a standard across quite a few manufacturers. It's really unfortunate that they made a head tube so long - very unusual. To replace a steerer on a Rockshox...

    Bike Forks?

Hi Eddie, Rockshox XC30s I have. A budget fork which copes with most things. Not really suitable for extended hammering off road on (I have another bike with Rebas on for this) but they certainly do well in most situations. In another universe compared to shi**y Suntour.

    Bike Forks?

Get these ones: RockShox Recon Silver TK Solo Air Forks 2012 | Chain Reaction Cycles Or: Rockshox Rebas are more expensive but the increased performance is absolutely worth the extra money: RockShox Reba RL Solo Air Forks - Pushloc 2013 | Chain Reaction Cycles

    Bike Forks?

Rockshox Rebas are amazing forks for the money. I have them on my Specialized Rockhopper Pro (non electric mountain bike). Fox are better quality but you do pay quite a bit more for them. Rockshox are also easier to service than Fox forks. I got XC30s for my Scott but I wish I put another 90...

    Bike Forks?

Rockshox all the way for value for money and build quality. Avoid Suntour forks - they are almost all complete rubbish and finding spares is very difficult.

    BH Emotion serious problems

I actually did the best service I could do on the Suntour forks before getting rid of them - got them going reasonably well and left them outside my house with a note on them saying "free suspension forks - light riding only. For 29" wheels." They disappeared in 10 minutes probably to one of the...

    BH Emotion serious problems

Just something on SR/Suntour forks - I found them to be very poorly built and after 6 months of use in all weathers on my Scott, I got rid of them as I could not face getting another identical pair of inferior forks under warranty. They began to seize up and when I opened them up a whole load of...

    BH Emotion serious problems

There have been a lot of problems reported regarding breaking spokes on hub motor e bikes. It happened to me on my old e bike. Extremely annoying - 5 broke in one day which wrecked the rim!! I rebuilt the wheel myself using 13G plain gauge Sapim spokes and a new freeride grade Mavic rim. Never...

Any advice on cause of bike hub motor not working appreciated

I also had this problem with my old e bike and it was down to a corroded connector. Water ingress can also cause the motor to spin erratically or stop working. This happened to me on my old e bike as the hub was pretty poor quality and subsequently very poorly sealed against the elements.

Bosch Battery Covers come to e-bikeshop in the UK

Definitely recommended. I have put an order in already.

Any advice on cause of bike hub motor not working appreciated

Could you let us know the manufacturer and model of the motor and controller? A photo might also help.

    Bosch batteries

After 18 months of use (12 months running in de-restricted mode) on average 24 miles per day, 4 days per week (sometimes charged twice per day, other times charged once per day): My battery lost about 15% of capacity. I used to be able to do the 24 mile commute in destricted mode on tour...

    Meeting with Bosch

Whilst carefully cutting the nickel tabs in my battery (after first taking the BMS board off and using plastic covered cable cutters) I caused a small short. There was a extremely tiny blue spark which caused no charring on the tab. No drama caused to be honest. Batteries were then all tested in...

    Meeting with Bosch

Maybe it might be closer to 20A to 25A peak current draw. The new Panasonic cells can handle this sort of peak current so I am assuming they will do the job well. Only time will tell how well the modified battery lasts well - it certainly looks like it should. Taking a guess at the battery...

    Meeting with Bosch

At peak power the motor (even the restricted motor) can draw over 500W in Speed 3 going up a steep hill for example. At 36 Volts this gives a current draw of 13.8A.

    Meeting with Bosch

True - the cells themselves (i.e. Panasonic or Samsung etc - Bosch uses Samsung cells in the 2011 and 2012 batteries) are relatively expensive to purchase and make up into a pack. You then have to connect up the electronics and Bosch then got someone to make the BMS which is pretty...

    Meeting with Bosch

Good advice by Martin there on the battery. Only attempt modification if you have a very good understanding of how battery packs work and how BMS circuits function - and that you are prepared to take the risks. Very cheap "new" Bosch batteries will NOT have the correct cells inside them. You...

    Meeting with Bosch

Hello Martin, I am currently in the process of re-celling my 8.8aH battery pack. It's a battery from a 2012 Scott e 29 bike so its the older type. So far, so good - the BMS has not permanently shut itself down despite being disconnected from all the cells. I am getting a new bunch of 2.9aH...
