E-scooters blamed for big jump in children caught in UK driving without insurance
"The charity called on the government to act to reduce insurance costs for young drivers by introducing a zero-rate of insurance premium tax (IPT) on policies where licence holders under the age of 25 have completed an “approved driving or riding course”, and to create a Young Drivers Taskforce within the Department for Transport (DfT)."

Y, a motor scooter rather than an ebike, but it is a Conversion of a classic. Good or bad? Pity the battery takes up the rack space. No passenger!

Who's going to be first? You can get 60aH 72v LifePO4 batteries for about £350. I have the idea that you might be able to cut the top and bottom off the fuel tank and use them as adapters welded to one of these:

That's about £1000 all up for the conversion that should give a range of about 80 miles.

Would love to know which buttons you're pressing, on that link I'm seeing £718 delivered, presumably novice pricing!

Speaking for myself, a conversion of a Honda Motocompo folder would be ideal, if possible with that 3000W kit.

Honda make an Electric Motocompo folder. But it's pathetically slow, *if* one believes the test they did?
Wheels are too small, and no pedals to make it legal anyway.

Did they rig the test?

A sit down folding electric scoot in a bag would be better? Still not legal though, If it has a seat.
An Electric Brompton with basket and cover is always gonna beat them for legality, fold, carry, and the rest! :)

This was Honda's original Step Compo from 20 years ago. It too was quite slow, 12 mph tops;

He dreamed of a cycling revolution. Then an SUV crushed him
"According to witnesses and CCTV, the driver of the SUV began driving in the bike lane. Prosecutors say the driver ran over Paul's foot. Paul banged his fist on the bonnet.

The motorist reversed at first, but then allegedly drove towards the 27-year-old. An autopsy confirmed "the marks of the vehicle crossing his body"."

"Paul understood these risks, and was an active member of the cycling group Paris en Selle - Paris in the Saddle. He campaigned for more segregated space for bicycles and safer junctions. "

"According to a recent study, cycling now makes up more than 11% of trips within Paris, compared to just 4% by car. Walking is still the most popular way of getting around - accounting for 53% of journeys, followed by public transport (30%). "

Man, 50, hit on the head as men in balaclavas try to steal his e-Bike
Police described the attempted robbery as a 'horrific incident'
Ouch! Another good reason to wear a helmet..
With a 'camera' that just happens to be unusually robust.. bosh, oops! and a real one hidden elsewhere? :)

The crime-ridden parks where cyclists are threatened with knives and hammers to hand over their expensive bikes to gangs of masked youths
"Many victims also don't bother reporting their bikes being stolen - due to their lack of faith in the police's ability to locate and reclaim them."

"Begging the police", mmm, what's wrong with that line, eh? :-/
Scooters can be easily stopped with 'Sticky Nets', or anything that'll catch in the wheels?
However, I'm sure those in UK are grateful for the heads up tho, cheers :)
