Yose Power 350 watt rear wheel suddenly stopped working

Had My Yose Power for nearly a year and it has worked perfectly all this time. I put it away last week in the garage and inadvertently left the battery switched on (the led display was off) went to use it yesterday after about 4 days and nothing apart from a staccato noise from the motor the wheel not turning and fault code 25 flashing up. I contacted Yose and within a couple of hours I was contacted by someone in china and they said they would send me a new motor so fantastic after sales service from Yose. My question is could my leaving the battery switched on have caused this or was it a coincidence and if it was why?

Don't know what error 25 is but can't see how leaving a system on would cause a motor fail.
A stacatto noise suggests that something is out of synch.
Are you sure the battery still has charge?
Was the bike wet when you put it away?
It's very unusual for a hub motor to fail. Only thing I can think is that the hall sensors (which tell the controller what position the motor is in) have failed.

Did the battery charge as normal taking the same amount of time to charge? If the battery was fully discharged by being left on it may be struggling to charge normally and so cannot power the motor properly. Maybe check its output with a multimeter to make sure it is registering as fully charged. a 36V battery fully charged should be somewhere around 41-42V. This is only a basic test the battery pack could still fail when the discharge rate is too high. Ideally you want to be able to measure it under normal load i.e. the motor spinning.

Error 25 error code is a brake sensor issue , so either a sensor fault/magnet fault or a brake not returning to rest position. To test disconnect both brake connectors and then try the motor , if as one expects the motor works connect one brake and test and then the other brake to see which is playing up.
End of the day one only needs one brake sensor working to make life easy.

Motors don't just go wrong for no reason and parking up a bike is not a reason, your issue isn't motor related but likely a trivial one as mentioned .

Battery was not discharged (my initial thought) it was dry and in my garage. tried the brakes and it didnt appear to be that although everything on line when googled suggests it should be. The guy from Yosepower asked me to video it all happening, the noise and the flashing up of the fault and said its a motor problem and are sending me a new one and an instruction manual on how to fit it which doesn't look too difficult TBH. I wonder if by leaving the battery switched on it could have fried the motor in some way. there is a small on/off switch on the battery and an on/off switch on the display. it was the battery i left switched on. it was working perfectly when I put it away and not when I took it out.
the new motor is arriving tomorrow so i will fit it over the weekend. he seemed quite certain, so maybe this has happened before? seems very odd. thanks for your comments.

Leaving a battery on doesn't dmagae the motor, the controller is in between the battery and motor, the motor needs power from the controller to work.

Have you tried disconnecting the brake connecotrs and actually tried to power on the motor ?
The only other issue I can se that may have happened is some how you have blown a motor hall, but simply leaving a battery on doesn't cause this.

What I have done is pick the bike up and push the throttle open and the wheel spins up to full speed making a growling noise but when you put it on the ground it stops spinning as no power in it

Motor cable connector not pushed in far enough.

Just fitted the replacement guts of the motor sent by Yosepower and apart from the usual dramas about screws having to be drilled out etc. Put it back together and it works perfectly. So it was the motor after all thanks for your input all

He won't know if he didn't try .

As we know hubs don't stop working by simply parking up and not turning the battery off.
Something innoculous must have occured ( besides not switching off the batt) which hasn't been mentioned.
