Yamaha PW motor water resistant?

The police in my area is selling a ebike that they found in a ditch.

It's an ebike from 2017 with a Yamaha PWseries motor, they don't know if the motor + battery will still work. It's an auction, so you have to bet on it.

The bike itself looks quite oke, only some screws are a bit rusty.


What do you think, can a Yamaha PW motor + battery stand that much water?

Budget on a new battery it will not be cheap if it was sunk avoid the replacement motor will be:rolleyes::eek: it will only be a bargain if it works if not its a pile of scrap.
Think phone in a ditch for a week would you buy it

A PW or PW-X motor will fill with water if submerged for any length of time. The main issue with the Yamaha motor is that the circuit board is located at the bottom of the motor, once this has been submerged, it's usually game over!
