hi all there seem to be a lot of ebikes around the £1700 mark, but I am wondering if something like the focus jafira mountain style ebike impulse 2 70nm moter although I assume plenty of hill climbing power would range suffer over lesser powered e bikes.

basically want I want is longer range and a bit more hill climbing power, than i currently get (25 max if i start using mode 2 a lot) vita uno 10.4 ah

thanks all

The battery on the Focus is significantly bigger, so you would get a better range than you do now no matter how you use the new bike.

The Focus will be a better climber than your Uno, but it's a crank drive so delivers its power differently.

I like crank drives, you may not, so best have a go one before buying.

Nothing is for nothing, so the more power you use on any ebike, the shorter the range.

The Focus has power levels, so you will be able to go much further if you can ration yourself to lower settings.

Easier on this type of crank drive because there's no throttle to tempt you.

d8veh would give you a definitive answer. In theory you should be able to eke a bit more out of your Bafang with a small shunt mod increase of 2 or 3 amps to 17/18a to improve climbing ability and a larger 15ah battery should give a mileage increase but would one fit in your triangle ?

if you like the Uno and only want a bit more range, then changing the battery for a 15AH is a lot cheaper.
The Vita Uno has the controller mounted on the seat post, not at the base of the battery, making it very easy to replace the battery on the downtube with a 15AH one, cost: about £300 from Eclipse or Woosh, a 15 minute job.

The reason I mentioned whether or not a 15ah would fit is as we know it is a bit larger then the bottle battery fitted and the frame triangle looks a bit tight. Agree £300 cheaper then £1700 but OP may have money to burn.
Other wise sell the Uno and fit a nice BBS on a donor bike.

thanks all nealh where would the shunt fit on controller ? the handlebar led unit appears not to come apart.

I have seen the woosh battery but am not sure if would fit in my frame.

I cannot afford £1700 but all the ebikes I like are around this price.

I did phone woosh re replacing my 3 levels of pas to 5 like the one in there kit, to be between 1 and 2 assist level which might extend range, but it seems this could be tricky, due to lead etc from unit being different.
don't like the idea of lugging around a spare 10.4 battery.

if starting from scratch doner mtb+kit seems to make sense.

but do woosh do a bmp rear wheel kit 26" it is not to clear on the website

thank you all

Your controller is fitted on the seat tube upright in the black box, inside the controller is the shunt on the pcb, the shunt is approx thickness of coat hanger wire and is u shaped. By adding solder to one of the shunt legs you can then change the resistance and increase the ampage. With your current battery a shunt mod would be useless as it will reduce the range available due to giving more power.
Woosh do front and rear 350w BPM kits, they are clearly indicated on the kits link.

I have the focus jarifa 27.5 with the impulse 2 motor,17ah battery, the motor has a good amount of torque and climbs with greater ease than the Panasonic and Bosch motors I have owned in previous bikes,it also holds fast speeds as well in the right conditions,I always ride in the power mode which is the second highest assist and with the 17ah battery 40 to 45 miles is possible but in the eco or sport mode I would say 50 to 70 miles easily.

Good feed back on range and its ability though OP says price is out of his range useful info for other buyers.
